Put it this way: 9 of the CFC 2002s made State ODP and 2 made Regionals last year. The 2002 Eugene tourney team (mostly CFC girls) beat all the other OR area 2002 RTC teams. First time for a non-pdx area RTC team to win in any age group or sex. Last year none of the 2001s made State. This year, one, maybe 2. Great players but suffer when competing vs older 2001s from the '00 teams. The core of the "birth year strong" players are 2002s. In addition, the current CFC u13 team (a top team also)has a bunch of top 2002s to add to the mix. FCP-ECNL has as many or more top 2002s but they'll be playing ECNL.

Since neither TT or TS have a 2001 team to draw 2002 payers from (TS 2001 team is not good) it is unlikely that either can play 2002 birth year at a high level. TS has a strong 03 team right now, so likely they can maintain there level of play at the 2003 age group. Since there is not a 03G TT team, they will rely on recruiting. Had they stayed at BSC they could likely have picked up payers from the 03G state cup champions.

For the 2002 age group it is pretty clear that CFC will dominate if the best player in the state keeps playing there.
Eastside should have a top 2002 team with the 2002 players on the 01G and 02G teams. Not sure about the 2003s though.

        FCP-ECNL U14 is about 75% 2002's - including the 1 girl from CFC who is a 2002.

Both Thusc and FCP will be week in league play. Only because the best players will be in ECNL. Based on the age groupings, both the 2003s and 2002s will be ECNL next year. Some of the other teams in league play may have huge shifts based on the numbers that decide to do ECNL, for example any of the crossfire teams and TT. Harder to know how the down state teams will shake out.

I believe 2002's will be U14 again next year so 2003's will not be ECNL.

            For 2016-17:

            2005: U11
            2004: U12
            2003: U13
            2002: U14
            2001: U15
            2000: U16
            1999/98: U17/18

Which team will she play for in NWCL this weekend?

Eugene had to regroup after a toxic player/parent poisoned the well. Fortunately they have moved north to bigger and better things.

According to most recent roster CFC Red Zenith U14 has: 6 2001, 10 2002.

I wonder if the birth year will bring some of the 2002 U13 girls back to CFC? That 2002 birth year team would be strong.

                      For 2016-17:

                      2005: U11
                      2004: U12

                      2001: U15
                      2000: U16
                      1999/98: U17/18
If that is the case, why are people worried about the later birth year kids missing a year. I have a late 2002 daughter playing u13 this year and she will move to u14 under the current and net rules. If this is correct it just means that some girls get to do u14 etc. twice.

If she doesn't play for CFC, they won't have a good weekend.

So funny that people talk about top players at 12 years old. I remember some from when my dd was 12 and today, I know of a hanful who stopped playing by U16 and one, who was the most dominant player of the age group back then, who by U17 was very average for the age group.

Not sure how it works but we'll soon find out.

Eugene has never had a top competitive '02 team in the current system. However, going birth year, they should have a top 2003 team. They should also maintain fairly strong 2002 and 2001 birth year teams. Unless they attempt to keep teams together and have play ups - then all their teams will drop significantly, especially out of state. But their players will be happy and that should count for something.
