Put it this way: 9 of the CFC 2002s made State ODP and 2 made Regionals last year. The 2002 Eugene tourney team (mostly CFC girls) beat all the other OR area 2002 RTC teams. First time for a non-pdx area RTC team to win in any age group or sex. Last year none of the 2001s made State. This year, one, maybe 2. Great players but suffer when competing vs older 2001s from the '00 teams. The core of the "birth year strong" players are 2002s. In addition, the current CFC u13 team (a top team also)has a bunch of top 2002s to add to the mix. FCP-ECNL has as many or more top 2002s but they'll be playing ECNL.

Since neither TT or TS have a 2001 team to draw 2002 payers from (TS 2001 team is not good) it is unlikely that either can play 2002 birth year at a high level. TS has a strong 03 team right now, so likely they can maintain there level of play at the 2003 age group. Since there is not a 03G TT team, they will rely on recruiting. Had they stayed at BSC they could likely have picked up payers from the 03G state cup champions.
For the 2002 age group it is pretty clear that CFC will dominate if the best player in the state keeps playing there.

Harder to know how the down state teams will shake out.

So funny that people talk about top players at 12 years old. I remember some from when my dd was 12 and today, I know of a hanful who stopped playing by U16 and one, who was the most dominant player of the age group back then, who by U17 was very average for the age group.
