Winning at regionals for any team, any state, is quite an accomplishment. So identifying a regional championship as a strong point is rare indeed for most states. After all, fourteen areas are represented in USYSA Region IV. Not all areas choose to compete at regionals. Placing in semifinals through finals is a major achievement. Prior to switching over to US CLub Soccer State Cup, Regionals, and Nationals, Oregon clubs have shown upward movement in finishing at Regionals. Yes, this means Westside, THUSC, FC Eastside, as well as former now-defunct clubs, have all done well at regionals. So to say that Oregon winning at regionals was never a strong point is incorrect. Never is too harsh and invalidates all that Oregon teams have accomplished over time. Patience and going for the best results is the strong point and what youth competitive soccer is all about.
