    OYSA state cup....*** is that?

It probably takes a awhile to find and recruit some rec. teams to play in it. They are probably waiting for Paul Blackmore to submit his roster.

OYSA is the only path to USYSA National Tournament. The OPL is better for local state games for premier teams, but US Clubs National Tournament is not even close to USYSA level.

OK, say a few Rec Plus teams did OYSA State Club. Do you really want to send second/third/fourth tier teams to USYSA regional in Hawaii to get the crap kick out of them.

Just saying. Nothing against those teams, but is it a lot of money and a fun vacation in Hawaii just to have that happen to you.

If that is what a Rec Plus team wants, good luck.

Boom. Completely agree. Huge financial commitment for a team and if that team is marginal, then you are just throwing your money away. Guaranteed that the other states are putting forward top teams. Plus, you get to add players and those Cali teams grab top talent from other teams to give them the best shot.

You heard wrong. We're figuring the cost will be about $2000 per kid.

Sad thing is the rec team would have the same won loss record as the top teams...just lose by more. If you look back, winning at regionals was never an Oregon strong point.

Before that happens I think they will turn over OPL to the Timbers Alliance...Who needs all those other clubs anyway...Competition only makes..us.stronger...oops.

Oregon has done much worse at regionals since the split between OPL/OYSA. The teams from Eastside and Westside who showed the best largely came out of a statewide competitive furnace.

The more you localize competition the lower the quality becomes. We will have some strong Oregon representatives who will go to regionals and play hard against the best hoping to show their mettle, we will also have some weaker representatives.

Ask yourself, or your child's team however, if we are going to play for a championship at the end of the year, why not have it mean something?
