    UPDX vs CP ECNL

CP won 4 of 6 matchups for their 1st winning weekend ever at ECNL. Seems like a surprise to me but don’t know most of the teams that well.

It's good to see CP teams succeeding. The club needs to field better teams in ECNL Boys and this is a good start.

Washington based club teams that are not in their HS season should roll any make shift OR club team coddled together during their official fall HS season in a one-off match. Especially when the OR club team has zero training or preparation. It comes as no surprise that even a poor standard WA. club like CPSC can stand a chance to win a match with this peculiar arrangement

The long standing SOP for OR HS aged clubs/teams is very simple they don't train or play any games during the fall instead they take a complete break from club, unserstandably as OR HS teams train and play games 5 to 6 days a week from Aug to Nov.. Club soccer resumes in mid Nov after the HS season is complete, which is logical.

It follows that WA. Clubs never play Oregon club teams during their HS season in the sprimg. The WIAA prohibits HS players from playing club soccer during their spring HS soccer season..

why would any OR club jeopardize the health of a HS boy to play more games? Not wise.

Players who play club during the HS season should be banned from playing high school soccer, at least on varsity/JV teams. Because of the age group issue, I'm willing to make an exception for freshmen, especially those who play on freshmen teams rather than against juniors and seniors.

If UPDX wants to pass itself off as a second academy, then it's players shouldn't play HS ball, just like the Timbers Academy. Otherwise, it needs to shut down its HS programs in the fall, like every other club in the state.

Why is it different this year vs before (in terms of CP) success?

If you think updx cares at all about these kids you are sorely mistaken. It is exactly why this club has already peaked .

So many of their core players were at other club tryouts in May. I saw a photo one of Opfc club accounts put up that had a handful of their 2007 players there. Doesn’t look like they made it though. Oops

Yeah, the club is making the kids play two seasons, ECNL and High School at once. Yeah, it's the club's fault. The parents have no say in how their child is raised.

In season Wa. HS Club teams from the Vancouver area have a strong chance of beating out of season OR club teams thrown together for pointless one-off matches during their full time OR HS season. Same as it ever was.

Watching the updx parents cope with the new reality is fun. CP barely won a game last season and some didn’t even win one. Too late to transfer to another club though since the good ones are already full . Enjoy a year of circling the drain.

Here is the plan, your kids will play 2 HS and 1 or 2 ECNL games a week, but practice for ECNL. They will train all of the other days with their HS team. When both HS and ECNL are done we will play OYSA which is beneath us, that is why we joined the ECNL but we would have nothing else to do in the winter and spring.

Don’t forget to mention you didn’t win all the boys state cup age brackets in this below you league. Such a plastic club

It has to be disappointing to play for the ECNL tag, but suck at it because you can't practice to training and loosing at OYSA
