I wouldn't say someone else looks like a fool when you use any ranking system to try and prove a point. Although Top Drawer is the better of the ranking systems it is still very flawed. Crossfire is not even close to the 18th ranked team in the country.

Strong feelings for not having a dog in the fight. In my opinion after watching most of these teams Crossfire is not that good. I'm not saying they are a bad team just saying I don't think they are a top 20 team. A lot has changed in a year since u14 was allowed into ECNL. Top teams that can't get into the ECNL can't get the points needed to even get ranked. Teams like Crossfire and WPFC who were not ranked very high before ECNL now get points because of who they play, some of which are very good teams. Overall ECNL is great for the girls. No jealousy at all just a conversation if cant have one then that is your issue.

Third, Got-Soccer rankings do not include ECNL games.

Trying to make comparisons between the rankings is meaningless as the ECNL league is more difficult than Oregon's current version of State Cup, from which highly ranked Oregon teams get the majority of their ranking points as they do not pick up many in Vegas or Surf unless they win. Yes the better teams get some at Mustang and the other high profile tournaments but you have to remember that the regional ECNL tournament like playing in the quarter finals from those tournaments from game one

Head to head is the best measure and those meetings have to be RECENT to mean much as team rosters change as do team performance with different coaching. So the games you keep referring to are a fond memory but just that, a memory.

There are only three Oregon team capable of competing in the ECNL and they are Onyx, Sodium and OSSA U17 Blue as proven in the NWCL.

The point Mr. anti-ECNL makes about the best local players getting scholarships in the current Oregon system is valid but misses the point about the quality and reach of those scholarships with ECNL players getting exposure to programs from all over the country. He also is unaware of the size of the scholarships being awarded with many more being full or 50% + first year scholarships than what the local system has historically generated.

I'm sure this post will generate the same "waste of time and money" response which will for the one hundredth time miss the point that ECNL is not for everyone and is just another avenue to take your DD's game to the next level much the way a Mercedes is just another way to drive to the games!

All valid points, but with only a couple of teams remotely good enough to compete, no club around here will get ENCL so why debate it?

Debate is good on a topic that is badly needed in Oregon. It would be nice to have an Oregon club with ECNL as an option for these players.
