We have the means to be able to lease a building just blocks away from the old Oregon Soccer Center off of Old 82nd in Clackamas (that has since been converted to pickleball) that is large enough to accommodate a full-sized indoor football field, a futsal field, and other sporting activities we have planned on our roadmap. The only thing that stands in our way is the building owner does not believe "soccer is profitable" and will not lease the building and is asking for a $4mm buyout for it. I've started a petition that has gained some decent traction over the past 24 hours, but my business partner and I can only spread the word so far. I just found this blog and feel this is a great place to post it too. Please look at the change.org link, see what we're trying to accomplish, and help us show the building owner that not only will it be "profitable", but a huge help to the community as there is no indoor field closer than Tualatin/Beaverton. Not to mention, there are no drop-in days or individual player sign-ups for either of those facilities. One of our buddies actually bought the turf/walls/goals and has it all in a storage unit, so a field would go up quickly.
We want to bring back the old indoor soccer center we grew up playing in, and where our kids played at. Where anyone is welcome; full teams, individual sign ups, clubs (we already have the unofficial backing of three local clubs), newcomers, veterans, old, young, etc. The facility would be run by people who truly love the game. Like I said, we have the means to do this, we just need to show the building owner that there is enough interest in leasing it vs a buyout that we obviously cannot afford. Here is the link, please sign and comment if you feel the same way we do.
