Should be easy with no chance of failure. I’m relieved because I thought all that work might be difficult. But I’m glad this forum has people with previous experience building out a well run and competitive MLS franchise.
seems to me that the current crew has basically sh-t the bed on running this team

It would be way better for all of he would cut and run. He could get top dollar right now, in 2 years, half of what it is today. With lack of sponsors they will burn so much cash, cash that they do not have and quickly be in bankruptcy. No one will float them large enough credit lines to maintain the costs.
it’s over.

So, Eastside Timbers finally released a statement completely avoiding the elephant in the room. Typical weak sauce from the Gresham outfit.

Paulson just “stepped down” as CEO.
The heat is turning up. It won’t stop. The sponsors won’t come back as long as he is there. The world has changed and you cannot operate this way anymore. He keeps trying to skate through this, but it only ends when he divests completely and is no longer part of the organization.
This is the problem when you are a trust-fund baby and entitled to everything, you can’t imagine when you are held accountable. And you think you can weakly apologize and it goes away. Not this time. Gravy train is over.
when you build it yourself, you value it and never risk losing it. Just like kids who earn money vs. receiving it for nothing. When you earn it you value it, when given it for nothing….it has no value.
Merritt pissed it away because he didn’t really value it. Just liked being the boss and allowing a culture filled with abusers and a-holes. Time to leave completely

Merritt Paulson is a wealthy trust-fund baby; he'll be fine.
It will be hard for him to deal with, of course; he's not used to being held accountable by the riffraff. Torches and pitchforks outside the gates can be a bit unnerving to a rich guy used to having the world slob his knob. And actually having the peons BEAT you must be a bit of a psychic shock.
But he'll find other activities to sink his dad's money in, which will pay for the country club membership, the cars, the coke, and whatever else happens to float his boat

I would add though, he will not handle it well. He will have money, but no respect or adoration. Something trust fund babies crave more than anything.
