Boycott Timbers and Thorns until Merritt Paulson is gone

BOYCOTT the game and show the owners that they are not welcome here.

Becky Sauerbrunn is the only player that is willing to stick her neck out and basically call out Paulson.

The investors and owners are scared that people won’t show up. They keep putting press out and making the players give press conferences. Don’t go! Send the message. They are not welcome here and we will not put up with this abuse of women ever again.

I am going!! Excited to go and support womens professional soccer in the US! I have zero problem with Merritt Paulson’s penalty being shame, disgrace and loss of being CEO of both of his teams. Add to that the Thorns and Timbers organizations are now some of the most watched, scrutinized and reforming organizations in pro sports and I think let Merritt stay and take his medicine. His teams will not have these problems again and we are in my opinion FAR better positioned with an owner that will avoid these issues ever happening again vs one that has to learn the hard way all over again. Have you read the list…. Long List … of items that the organization is doing to reform? It is massive and has multiple 3rd party oversight. Going to be the best soon! Keep Merritt!! Laugh at him, mock him, let this experience and all the oversight in place force him to be a leader in how to be a sensitive/equal/thoughtful leader, but keep him. We are highly likely, better off if we do.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you. MP needs to be held accountable. Removing himself as CEO is just a PR stunt. He has complete control of the organization and will continue to profit as long as fans keep showing up. He covered this mess up for 7 years. Why should we trust him now?

And I am fine with an owner having complete control if they are a loser in the public eye who now has to be hell bent on doing right in order to win back some assemblance of dignity. Yeah, just look away. I hope one day it’s not your daughter that has to be told she can only play if she puts out. I hope it’s not your daughter that gets punched in the face by her husband/boyfriend and has a few high paid lawyers who up threatening her to keep quiet. I hope it’s not your daughter that spent her whole life working harder than most can imagine to reach the ultimate high of her sport, only to be treated like a stripper by arrogant men who have authority and will use it to satisfy their own insecure sexual deviancy.

The last think Thorns Academy's youth-club competition should want is Merritt to sell the team: there's a chance that new ownership might take it seriously.

Great game. My daughter and lots of kids there. Quite a few from various club teams were around. I saw a number of signs of protest. I think where it stands is that if the players play and encourage people to come, the fans will show up to support them. Ads in the stadium stated they supports those with the courage to speak out (Sunset Audi and Providence).
