    Nike (Oswego) Cup

Competition was not good this weekend, especially in the older age groups. That tournament has really failed to attract any decent competition last few years. Some divisions barely had enough teams for even one bracket.

Well, we had four teams at USYS Nationals, a whole bunch of teams went down to surf. The small local tournaments have been struggling.

Interesting to see what Mt. Hood Challenge looks like.

I would imagine even less interest in Mt Hood challenge considering it’s a bit later in the summer and families are trying to get vacations in.

Oh no, we are comparing USYS to the Oswego Cup?

I watched a team named Kalif FC. Never heard of them before, but wow. What a team. It was like a junior pro team.

It was a team comprised mostly of saints players (Kalif is now the coach for some age group there) and ringers from other local clubs that didn’t play in the tourney. Weak Nike cup competition + stacked team made most of their matches blowouts. Not sure what the kids get from beating other teams 12-0. Kind of bad form in my opinion.

Marketing and promotion for useless privates. Genius stuff for imbecile parents to feed off of.

Thorns put a team in this tourney too, pretty weak sauce IMO.

They play beautiful soccer, every team should aspire to be that good. It’s the club teams that are ripping parents off with mediocre boot ball.

The magic of privates. Can we get a 15 pack?

Because the thorns are a joke.

Lots of coaches here in town are "former pros". Many of them don't know what they're doing.

This is so true. Former pros both mens and womens usually don’t work out at all. They think they are big time but don’t know Jack when it comes to coaching youth and no one gives a shiz after a week of what pro team they were on.

                            10% work out. Maybe less.

We had a former pro supposedly coaching our ODP girls team but KT never showed up.
