don’t believe the hype about “elite” club leagues. There are tons of talent coming out of the USYS leagues. Super impressive.
Really? Best girls events were the ECNL and GAL. Go look at the list of coaches attending for all events and compare. Regionals is a has been event.

Really?! Clearly a parent with blinders on here, no comparison...at all. Complete farsical to quote the great Al Michaels. I have seen firsthand teams at all different levels and huge talent gap between ECNL and OYSA top teams. Must be a PCU "you just dont understand soccer" parent.

I have seen firsthand teams at all different levels and there are some really terrible ECNL teams that would get utterly destroyed by OYSA teams.

This must be your first kid because this isn’t new. Who lied to you? I’m certain the fc portlands 06 ECNL team last year got beat by second teams at the pcu classic even. Ever check to see what happened to all of fc Portland ECNL this year?

thorns 04 and 03 team were a joke and easily beat by the top OYSA teams.

Utah has 4-5 teams from different clubs at every age group that are far beyond what Oregon has.

You are an idiot or someone lied to you if you seriously think ECNL doesn’t have crap teams or the top 25 usys or top 25 GA teams wouldn’t wipe the floor with any ECNL team in oregon.

You need to get around more.

Montana ODP parents get to say their kids are elite because cal south ODP is really good. Nevermind they are doormats for everyone else.

Oregon ECNL is a lot like Montana ODP. A few good teams here and there but generally a joke when you consider most states have usys teams that easily can beat ECNL and ga teams.

Wrong, go look at the attending coaches lists for each event, why such the disparity? Not doing the Oregon comparison here. How well attended were the regionals? And please, let not mention FC Portland, that is a sad situation.

ECNL relegated or dismissed FC Portland. That's what a real meritocratic league does ...

How does that fit into this conversation?

ECNL should have a formal means for relegating (and promoting) clubs or teams. USYS National League PRO and similar, after all, do this--you have to qualify to get in, and if you faceplant you will be dropped.

Otherwise it's just a cabal for certain incumbent clubs to exclude their competition.

If your only argument is coaching list then I’ll counter with the fact that I can find USYS teams that have better commitment then the ECNL teams in Oregon. I’ll bet your name on here that I can find more than 10.

take the bet? I’ll go as far as saying in that some past usys teams have outcommitted ECNL teams in Oregon.

Exactly! Great run for those teams and what an experience for the boys

I keep telling myself that the doooosh bags here do not represent most soccer families in Oregon and are a simple few that parents that have a need that this place somehow fulfills. Can you imagine how that feels? To only have talking soccer as a place where you get a need fulfilled? How sad is that.

That’s not hard to do. Oregon teams playing in the ECNL is a joke and sporadically put out garbage teams along with fc Portland that literally disappeared. So much for ECNL development. It’s a scam.

Why the disparity in attending college coaches at these events? GA and ECNL had incredibly long lists. Why the minimal attendance at Regionals?
