Eastside False Advertising

Eastside announcing their college and professional accolades. Their page looks great. It's also nice to see so many local players/coaches that have been successful in their careers. I decided to look at some of the college commitments, only to find that many of the players they are taking recognition for have only played a couple years in their club. It would be one thing of the club helped with their college placement, but several (on the female side) had not played with with Eastside during their HS years.

Eastside was nice enough to provide links to several of these players college profiles. The same players that left the club early on have also acknowledged different clubs for their development and playing careers on their college profiles.

They're not just announcing players that were committed and then joined their club, they're announcing players that left their club early on and had no part in the college recruiting process. Where do you draw the line? When does this become false advertising?

I think when a kid gets to HS age, many choose ECNL and even though they trained and were educated in soccer skill's young at a particular club: they moved on in HS years for recruiting benefits at expensive ECNL clubs. If a club does not provide a GREAT platform for top players recruiting, many move on. Some stay and get opportunities still to move on. The road for top players is easier with ECNL type opportunities.

All that doesn't mean youth clubs were not important in development. Actually the youth clubs 5 to 15U are probably the most critical stage, and Eastside seems to do a good job.

Lots of clubs do this--if a player played for them at all, and got recruited, they "count" them.

Only played a couple years? A kids youth experience may only be "a couple years." Now why don't you tell us your real beef with Eastside? Your kid not make it, did their B team knock you out of Presidents Cup?
