    Now this makes no sense:

Both of the following can't be true:

    1) OYSA only cares about UPDX and PCU
    2) OYSA only cares about Timbers Alliance clubs.

Last I checked, neither UPDX nor PCU were in the Alliance.

I think the point he's making is that NL cares about 2 clubs and that's all. OYSA only cares about TA. Soon that will be the same person.

Not sure what three things he needs.to do first, but I like Nelson a lot. He cares about teaching kids. He cares about teaching soccer to players of all skill levels, but cares about not holding those top players back. He worked hard as TD to work with large and small clubs throughout the state. He is a good dude.

Coaches clinics increased in quality and frequency on his watch. He worked the entire state. And he implemented some creative approaches to getting new coaches at the youngest ages to engage in training and good practices.

Sometimes a person just earns their promotion by doing good work.

Whatever. If someone isn't complaining or living through the achievements of their child, idiots like you don't want to hear it. OYSA doesn't exist to feed your inferiority complex. They exist to teach and provide access to soccer to children of all skills and ability. You think others are ****ty at the job because your priorities are out of whack. You are the problem, not them. You are just a loser.

I was involved a small town volunteer club not near Portland. Nelson came to our region and delivered multiple free coaches clinics over the years for our club and others in the area. The volunteer coaches loved it and many went on to proceed through their licensing to get more robust training that he also traveled to deliver.

The complaining that he only cares about PCU and UPDX is simply false. He helped many smaller clubs in ways appropriate to his training role. The whiners are just projecting the never-ending bitchfest among Portland area clubs onto a person who delivers free, low cost or free training to volunteer coaches across the whole state. It's not a Nelson problem. It's a you problem.

agree 110%. So many more coaching courses now than before he started.

Glad that newcomers to this sport (american soccer) can have a resource like the oysa ,giving them a chance to learn about a sport they have no idea of how to coach or play. Which allows the blind to lead the blind which is a gamechanger.

With this in mind I justst finished a clinic learning how to play a sport I know nothing about either; pickleball....Glad soccer also offers this type of help to those in the dark in this state.

                          Real gamechanger....

Isn't the head of United PDX an old close friend of his?

I wouldn't say that equates to inequality. I personally don't think Nelson is a bad guy at all. I think these clubs have talked massive sh*t to hide their own failures.

Then again the United pdx bias with refs.....was very obvious. They could injure players, flop, yell "✋ ball", and every time they would get the call. The coach complained ...immediately a call. They were literally helped thru matches.

Oregon doesn't have good soccer at all. You can't even beat your neighbors up north but want to burn your leagues...

                            Who trains your kids?

Sadly, the reality of the soccer problem in Portland is that the community has given too much power to these career youth coaches who were not successful in their careers (what kid out there would say they want to be a youth soccer coach when they grow up?). As a result, they have to do side hustles and form alliances and network with other youth soccer coaches to control youth soccer and achieve the six figure income they can't achieve outside of soccer. Take for instance the Varsity Blues scandal. At the center of the scandal were coaches who could easily be bribed by college consultants. The whole thing is a racquet and the community gives power to these pathetic losers. What's equally pathetic is that Nelson, Jeff Enquist, Brandon McNeil are friends with Rene Gonzalez who is equally corrupt. They don't give a damn about the players - they only care about sustaining the network that maintains their power and income. Our family has had extensive experience being with multiple clubs and you would not believe how deeply connected all these coaches are to each other. They protect each other and will never hold any of the coaches accountable for any wrongdoing. OYSA maintains this corruption. All the individuals who are qualiied to coach youth soccer and who actually have the skills to teach (they don't come from Warner Pacific or any of these substandard colleges) are working in non-coaching jobs and have real careers.
