Seeing the NWE and Thorns cronies bicker is amusing. Two mediocre, overpriced, unnecessary options. Lots of good players and coaches at different places. It would be nice if there were an all star team like ODP that worked out, but the existence of ECNL will make that unlikely to happen.

I should say the idea of ODP is good, but it’s execution over the years has been a mess. Not meaning to suggest it would have succeeded if only ECNL weren’t around.

I had kids in ODP before ECNL and what you say is 100% correct. Before ECNL, ODP was really good. All the best players did it, and this is where they grew as players. ODP was awesome before ECNL.
I say this as a parent who's kids had very successful ECNL experiences. ODP was a better and easier to manage format. Side note: Also missed the State Cup experience which you give up with ECNL...

I know it may or may not speak to your narrative at this juncture but it does speak to how clubs develop players over time. So let's get a complete snapshot.
This way if one was to look at year over year team trajectory they can see every age and how each age group improved over the years. Some clubs are great at recruiting and some are great at developing with a staff. Let's see how all this pans out over time.
It is way too early to tell anything yet with this snapshot.

If you aren't competing that goes directly to your clubs inability to develop next level players. Isn't that what ECNL is for? The Thorns nor NWE nor FC have a valid argument to exclude their U18/19 results.

Their clubs should want them focused, their college coaches demand they play, a lot of them are not committed so need to keep playing and developing. As a result they all show up to play the game and have something to play for. I would argue those teams that can't focus and can't perform are simply shortchanging themselves and their colleges.

College commitment is what they were all competing for and the road is complete. Remember these are 17 and 18 year old kids in their senior year High School. They have been grinding hard since they were 12. Most have checked out of the club competitive grind, and good for them.
U18/19 is about staying in shape/ preparing for College. Not a big win/loss year for Club soccer. Not to mention the kids who have given up on the dream of College play and also punched out.
