I say for boys the ultimate goal at this point is making the Timbers DA program. I know people are already trash talking the program, but yet, all vying for a spot. In my opinion, why forego a chance at paying virtually nothing to play against the best competition across the nation? Under great coaching might I add.

Without bashing the DA realize there is no such thing as a free lunch!

I am not questioning your assertion that they will receive "great coaching". Who will be the various age group coaches?

Id2 is for younger ages. This year they'll scout the 99-00 age group. Next year 00-01 and so forth.

That is for the boys only. Girls id2 continues into older ages

Anyone know where the boys (99) fields are for Regional Pool? Heading in to Ontario and would like to watch a few training sessions, and it's not listed anywhere that I see. thx

Why are their 60 kids in the girls regional hold over group?

They've done that as far back as I can remember for the younger girls. No reason to narrow the ages too early. At the end of the camp they generally have narrowed down the 60 to 30-40 for the regional pool. There are only approx. 40 girls in the other pools.

Boys have the same. They just never listed the SoCal and WA boys on the list.

My son just told me SoCal isn't there. 3 from WA though. I think So Cal is already part of a pre academy team. I hear the 98 boys are playing LA galaxy tomorrow. Great opportunity!!

So what happens next for the '99 kids? Does the '99 Regional team go to the interregional tournament in Florida or is that just for '98 and up? Do they just pick a regional pool or do they pick an actual team of 18? Do they train anymore after this? Any games? Sorry for all the questions!

They usually only pick a roster of 18 for Florida...sometimes smaller. This is then the Region IV team. The girls 95 team last year only had 16...coaches choice

Will the kids have a feel for who's the top 18 in California? Or is it a surprise when the "finalists" hear of it in the mail?

For the 99g they had an A, B and C team. The coach told my dd that b&c were going to get released and 4 from the A squad too. Don't know any more than that.

Could the girls tell which team was the A, B and C teams? If so were any from Oregon on the A squad?

So how long did your DD get evaluated? How long did it take the "geniuses" to select the A team? If it was anything like the so called regional camp the parents should demand to get their money back.

Unless there is a thorough evaluation and comparison of players against one another at their preferred positions ODP needs to put the pretense of "tryouts" to rest and just go off the coaches recommendations and stop the charade and stop wasting our time and money.

If they sent girls to hold over and made the team selection within a single day what was the point? ohh ohh I know....MONEY.....silly me.
