Is WST going to form a third U13B this year?

At WST tryouts I heard couple of the coaches saying they were expecting to near the 400 mark for numbers this year between the boys and the girls.

Girls looked better than last year, but still don't have the same draw that the WST have on the boys side.

I think the Timbers affiliation just put the Westside over the top on the boys side as the premier boys club in Oregon.

70 boys is a strong number, especially for U13. Definitely curious if the 'Timbers Alliance' drove that number up or if they would have gotten that many anyway.

I does make you wonder. They already have two extremely strong teams at that age, which means there probably won't be many spots available unless they add a third team.

So what did the tryouts at all the clubs look like? Lots of players?

U12G FC had a lot of girls there. Will be some tough decisions to make!

My experience is WS always has tons of boys try out. But at end of day, they rarely form more than 2 teams and often the second team is not full. This is because many only want to be on the A team, and pass at other teams, or they will play, but only if on scholarship. I may be wrong, but look to see what happens. Only way to make more than 2 teams work is have an A team and then equal B teams. No one wants to play on a C team, regardless of whether or not you have a cool patch on your shirt.

FC Portland BU14 had approx 45 that I counted. From the looks of it, they could have 2 very competitive teams.

Any Metros come over? Any movment whatsoever of A team players noted?

U10 - ??
U12B - about 50
U13B - about 70
U14B - ??

U10b & u11b had 40-50 each in my rough estimation.

We are new to FC and could not tell from clothing if any Metros were there.

Onyx got bigger, faster and stronger they picked up two very solid players. It will be interesting to see where TA uses them. Should be a good year more speed never hurts!

Technically they picked up 3 but one was doing State Cup with them already.
