    Re: 95 odp tryouts

Great thoughts on those that made the team but also great advice for those that didn't. My daughter, I was told since I only went to the second day, had a really great try out. When the pool was posted she was devastated. She was upset that she didn't make the pool, yes, but her frustration was based in the fact that in conversations with a few other girls, they said they didn't care one way or the other, and then in fact made the pool. She explained she was upset because she had worked really hard, played very well, and had not been chosen over someone who didn't care. Now, I can only go by the ranting of a 13 year old girl so I have to look at things subjectively. I was just glad to hear from some people how well she played. She is a young 95 and has plenty of time to make the ODP squad in years to come. It is funny too because I said some of the same things to her that you posted here. Keep your head up, try harder for next year, look at all the girls who played last year and didn't make it, great time playing with all these talented players and so on. This was her first year at trying out so she will definitely be back next year. She really enjoyed the experience and getting to play with and against such a talented group of players. I am sure we can all look back at some point in our lives when we really worked for something and it didn't materialize. I had to laugh [not in front of her of course] when I thought about it later. She'll be fine and come out stronger next year. I don't really know why I felt compelled to post my own ODP story but if it helps ease another parent who has to deal with a frustrated soccer player, then it's worth it.

Best of luck to the 95 pool this year, we'll be there cheering you on!

Great job Emmy Owens from our own THUSC Sodium team! [U13]

    Cheers! :D

      Re: 95 odp tryouts

      Hi ST.
Thanks, for the congrats to Kat. Please tell Cora that Kat says "Thanks & Merry Christmas!" Of those in the '95 Pool, the only GU13s I know of are Annabella Geist, Amelia Owens and Dallas Malone, but there are other names I don't recognize.

      Hi SF.
My condolences to you DD. It sounds like you handled it the best way possible, and she will no doubt be the better for it. As I posted earlier, the decision of who makes it and who does not is based on the opinions of others, but it's how she sees herself that is most important. Keep her thoughts positive and she'll be fired up the next time around. Take care. :)
