No one said anything about those showcases. No one complained.

Why don't you just chill a little?
everyone has an opportunity to do nwcl.....maybe your DOC needs to work harder at the right things....as a whole it was great for the club....I think what the poster was trying to say was for you to quit whining about what sunny did for his club....there are teams not deserving that get accepted in alot of tournaments....i don't see you bitching about it. Did the U17's deserve to go to Surf Cup last year? Did the 15's deserve to go to Vegas Showcase.....do the 99' and '00's deserve to go to Surf this year? Relax, because it's not about what you think....your opinion does not matter in the PDX soccer work and there is a reason you are not in charge of anything to with PDX metro soccer

Of course the u15's deserved to go the Vegas Showcase. Nobody can argue winning the 4th division.

If VT drops the ball or places coaches poorly or whatever, will I move away in the interest of my kid. You bet. But for now, it is clear VT going forward is the only relevant club in SW WA for the premier soccer player. Period.
There was a time when I would have agreed with you. But I've now spent enough time in this club that it's become clear that it's not all that it seems on the surface. The idea might be good, but the execution has been, and will continue to be, very poor. I hope Eli sees what's going on and makes some changes soon but I'm not holding my breath. VT is quickly becoming the club where all the select players go so they can call themselves "Premier". Size, politics, and the "brand" matter much more than the quality of soccer does. Many of the better players in each age group have already, or will soon, move away from VT.

Actually, Burnt Bridge is in great shape. Grass is green, it's been cut recently, and there's almost no bare spots in the goal areas. Much better than Harmony for sure, but not nearly as good as the grass fields at Doc. Even PSO fields are better than Harmony right now. Felida is always in decent shape (although it can get soggy) simply because FCSC doesn't have enough teams to wear it out.

I'm sure the teams that went 0-fer thought it was a blast. It's supposed to be a "champions" league. The way it's been run it has lost all credibility. WYS is about to launch it's own version of NWCL to compete head-to-head. Then NWCL will become even less relevant.

VT has a reputation, no argument there. Top club? Not so much. Unless you are limiting yourself to the Portland metro area. Then it's not all that difficult to be a top 5 club. Even FCSC can do that.

But boot ball is a form of soccer... "Send it!"

                      Changes

With the merger going through and Eli being new, it is time for other changes in the club. We will get more of the same from the same people.

You must be really naive. VT is not a "top club" or a "relevant club". Maybe in Vantucky where you are grateful for a turf field or a coach with a E license.

Just look at their club performance versus other equally sized clubs in the area. They are NOT performing better than THUSC or FC or WST.

I dont care about what Vantucky does and its fun to see how you guys rip each other up, like junkyard dogs fighting over a bone but thinking its steak. I understand that some of you need to blindly promote your shiny new and improved BIG club. You're wishing and hoping its gonna solve all your issues. Good luck with that. In the meantime, keep sending your top players our way.

VT has consistently over the past 8 years been in the top 6 in WA.

VT is a Regionally based club now....not just Portland Metro...

                          with teams consistently going to:

Mustang, Disney Showcase, Surf Cup Showcase, Vegas Showcase....I hear there could be four teams going to Surf this summer......does that sound like a club limited to Portland metro? Name a club that has even two teams accepted into a tourney like surf cup?

the OPL has been playing our select teams for 5+ years....we just started this past year sending our first and second teams to the OPL....and you still won't get to see all of them because the top teams will still do RCL. I can't tell you how many countless times my DD's OPL team has sent guest players to play in the RCL. How many times does your DD guest play within the club in a given year?

I guess with the overhead of FOUR paid DOCs (or whatever titles you have), VT now has one of them monitoring this stupid ass board and posting flattering comments about them. Reputation management, I think its called.

Wow...Looking at the coaches credentials, now I understand why they never posted them before. All coaches on the girls side from U11 through U15 with the exception of the U11 Reds & U14 "C" Team, ALL their coaches are USSF "D" License or Lower. Being a candidate doesn't mean you have one, just means that you want one.
