I highly doubt your team will switch to the East unless the kids from the team went (or are going) over to WSA tryouts this year. Next year when they are truly operating under 1 board, it's anyone's guess where your team will train. Many choices.

But you bring up a point that is interesting to me. If both WSA and VUSA are now operating under the same Vancouver Timbers club #, I wonder if there will be any player sharing through the player pass this year? I guess that would be complicated, but it would neat to see the clubs begin to take advantage and work together as we head into the merge.

This was asked and answered in writing by David Hughes of VUSA. The two clubs are considered as one by OPL and RCL effective immediately after tryouts. Players can be shared using the player pass any time this summer / fall.

It's up to the coaches, with the support of the DOCs, how well this will work this coming year. I would hope that the coaches would embrace the ability to move players around. This is a tremendous development opportunity for the younger ages and will go along way to easing everyone into the combined tryouts the following year.

e. Teams are permitted guest players provided they are from the same club, have valid US Club Soccer member passes, and are age eligible to participate. Guest players from outside the club are not permitted during Oregon Premier League play.

Funny. Now that the merge is approved it's really more of an east / west thing. Everyone is in the same uniform and name (Vancouver Timbers) and under the same club # (player pass). Teams just stay with their same coaches. (some)
I wonder if the DOCs will work with the coaches as to where they might want to "reside" for this year. The cost differences between east/west are nominal and the upside of heading east for this year is lighted turf practices and games late October through May included in your fees. I wonder if my team will switch to the east?

We were already part of the world of club soccer and have utilized player passes as separate clubs (WSA and VUSA). This conversation is about whether VUSA and WSA will use player passes between clubs in the interim period prior to next year's tryout under one club.

It sounds like this is a possibility which I find interesting. Thanks to the other posters for helpful and useful commentary.

Not to get picky but I'm a VUSA parent and we don't get all practices and all games on turf. Especially from late October to May. We have to fight for space at Nautilus and play many of our games in the mud. We have Camas kids on our team and I for one would love access to Doc Harris! Not counting on it though.

I am a WSA parent and it is absolutely a luxory to train on Doc and Cardon turf for the majority of the year. The cost did go up this year for WSA (because turf costs are going up) but for me it is worth it being able to play on turf during the muddy months.

For U14B, where are players migrating? Are the WSA teams taking any from Burris? Or the other way around? Does Pacific have a strong Select offer for U14? FCSC doesn't AFAICT

Tossup. WSA Premier A team is bottom of Div2 RCL, WSA Premier B is top of Div 2 OPL, VUSA team is 4th in OPL Premier. These are spring results so, for OPL, they are inflated because of spring mixing of teams in each bracket.

WSA Premier A finished 2-2-2 in RCL Div 2, Spring. The final listing might have shown 2-3-2 but the final game never was played, resulting in a forfeit that very well could have been a win. Also, the RCL Division 2 winner (Snohomish), the WSA Premier A team put a thumping on them in State Cup, 4-0.

The VUSA Premier A team is also very strong. They can compete with the top OPL teams and did in Fall and Spring. I believe VUSA finshed 3rd in OPL Fall when it was not diluted. I honestly don't know which team is stronger, VUSA A or WSA A but probably give the edge to VUSA. The teams pretty much split when playing each other. If you were to take the top of each and make one team, it would be very strong. WSA Premier B is moving up to OPL Division 1 and has already shown they can compete in that Division, probably somewhere in the middle.
