With only two clubs and at different levels there will be plenty of kids for both. It's a good time for SW Washington soccer--don't ruin it.
Agreed -- but don't get ahead of yourself. Only VUSA's A team is better than other Select teams. Premier B teams are expensive, lower level select in ability level.

Again not in all cases--they already have some very good "B" teams and assuming with the merger, lets be realistic, they should have two strong teams at each age.

Have kids in both VUSA and Pacific. So not trying to sell either point. I think they both have good options.

I would just prefer a peaceful existence and working together.

When it comes to money and egos peace does not always work out.

          Pacific

Pacific have teams playing in OPL at select prices.

Their current U12 boys Fire team is one of the best WA side of the river, and they should still be a force 2012/2013 as U13 boys. They will also have a B team too that plays OPL in the same age group. It was the B team that played both Timbers and WSA in opl last year fairing well against the Premier teams.

You can call it what you want but some of the teams at Pacific are strong and very much permier level squads so they are always worth a look at.

Just saying dont get drawn into all the hype of the VUSA/WSA merge and the Timbers Alliance keep option open. I believe there will be a lot of adjustment in Vancouver over the next year some good and some not so good so just be aware things need to pan out.

That U12B team is very good. But 1 team doesn't make a club. Going forward, Pacific may have a couple strong teams. Good for them. And in those cases, maybe it makes sense to keep the teams together for a better prices. But the newly merged Vancouver Timbers will have stronger A teams, and in many cases, stronger B team than the very best team at Pacific. Also, with the Timbers Alliance, I wouldn't be surprises to see top teams from Pacific break up so that they can have an inside track to everything the Portland Timbers supports (Alliance, RTC, ODP). Maybe not this year, but eventually.

              .
That team is decent but didn't even finish top 4 of OPL.

they may have finished 4th but still the best finish of a team on the WA side of the river at that age group.
Yes a team doesn't make a club, but we are talking U12/U13 players who have beaten both WSA and VUSA so that leads me to believe something is good there at those age groups.

VUSA Timbers have issue at the older teams U14 and above on the boys side and as we know the Timbers Alliance wont do much for the girls programme as they want boys so should we assume from your comment that one team doesnt make a club we should say the the Timbers havent got much say on the boys side no we should take each team at its merits.

I think the person was trying to say look at your options dont be a sheep and just go to the Timbers look around to see what best suites your needs.

Its not about money its about development and at the age group Pacific have proved to be a force to be acknowledge

I think the new U13b team will have problems just lets say watch this space and see what develops

this is the same guy that left SCFC for what ever reason who knows but hes only had one year coaching and told parents that if their child couldn't speak Russian then he was no good for them!!!!

As the above said watch this space and be careful

You can look at this however you want, but most people are smart enough to make their own minds up without you coming on here as a plant for vusa. You heard it here first, WATCH AS PACIFIC FC GROWS TO BE THE NEXT MAJOR CLUB IN CLARK COUNTY( not as premier but as a select club). Attention wsa and vusa you did it to yourself, Pacific Fc numbers will probably almost double because of this merger. Select and b teams are the same in most all cases, well except for the $$$ and the travel. And yes if your child wants to take soccer to the highest level, then you should look at top level clubs. Vusa then becomes one of many options. Oregon has at least 8 top clubs. It then becomes a matter of fit for your child. Choose wisely.

OK 4th or 5th they were still the best team from the WA side of the river thats the point Im making you can split positions anyway you want but both the VUSA timbers and WSA were in the division below playing again the Pacific B team.

Again my point is look around find your right fit dont jump with the hype keep all options open.

I thought these were interesting. Someone posted this on the SC forum a few weeks ago. Obviously, this poster ignored Timbers A teams (who are the best teams around). However, if you don't make the 18 spots on that team, it is probably a good idea to do your homework and look elsewhere.

                            ***********************************************

                            Check OPL's Fall Website.

GU12 Pacific FC A (beat Timbers Premier B, played division above WSA Premier A)
BU12 Pacific FC A (played Div above Timbers Premier A)
BU12 Pacific FC B (Beat Timbers Premier A and WSA Premier A)
GU13 Pacific FC A (Played div above Timbers Premier B, Tied WSA Premier A)

Since we are only involved at the U11 level, I was surprised to see that most of the successful teams are at the younger ages. I would guess that this is because these are the teams that have been able to take advantage of their merges with Tri-Mountain and Westside. When these players are paying a fraction of what the WSA/VUSA Premier teams are playing, this is a great value.

this is my point I dont know too much about the girls programme but on the boys at a younger group that have a solid option.

just want people to know the option and not get sucked I to the hype.

Develop develop develop thats what we want doesnt matter what team or club the wins will come if you develop right.

Pacific may grow a bit and that is fine. Great, in fact. The new Vancouver Timbers will have very strong Premier A teams. The question I think everyone is debating is whether or not the Premier B teams are, in fact, Premier level teams. If the B team can compete at OPL Premier level or RCL Div 1 or 2, it may be worth the extra money to stay in the Timbers Alliance and compete at a high level. The top kids from the B team will be knocking on the door of moving up to the A team. In those cases, I say stay with the newly merged Vancouver Timbers. If the team is more of a select team (OPL Div 1/2/3 or RCL Div 3/4/5), hey, I agree, it might make sense to save some $ and go to Pacific. That is, of course, if the right coaches and resources meet your needs.

I happen to believe the newly merged club will support a Premier A and Premier B team eventually, maybe not the first year or 2. I personally, think the top in SW WA will go to this club and be satified playing Premier B, as long as it is truly a Premier level type team.
