Let's see, pay $200 for football nearby with my school and friends or $1000 plus to travel all over the place. Similarly on the girls side. Pay $80 for rec to play with friends or pay so much more to go play with other teams that have been poor sports with coaches we don't know/like. Sitting in traffic for an hour or more (total) to get to a field on the other side of town. Having to constantly give up other sports as well as social/family time to play year round. Then there's the fact that practice times are never set and always changing, so it's crazy to figure out how to get everyone to practice espeically if you have more than one kid. Many just are not interested in this insanity and choose other priorities. We have been involved at a couple of clubs and talked to many families that just aren't interested.

What I would like to happen is have the bigger clubs work with the smaller neighborhood clubs. Many would like to play more, but can't afford the time or money it takes to make that higher committment. There's got to be a better way. Time for all of the many Tualatin Hills clubs - rec and classic to work together more.
I tend to disagree with much of this. I know many, many boys and girls who even at the younger ages wanted to travel and compete. Who would rather play on a team filled with competitive, focused kids then to play rec with their friends. Oregon has enough talent to field some very strong teams. That has already been proven even with all the talent spread out.

Anyone else find this THUSC hate thread timing interesting? Funny how it was statred for no aparent reason - just to get hot heads involved, a day after the FC coach info was released.

It's lot's of THUSC teams over a long period of time playing different clubs and at different ages. They are consistently the worst to be around. Maybe I've just been unlucky and only seen the offenders. Doubt it.

Ridiculous to say that one club has worst sideline behavior. Not a member of THUSC but I've seen gross misbehavior at all clubs, in all sports at every level. It is a parent spectator issue, not limited to one club or one sport.

Yep. My guess is a WSM parent though. With the chance of THUSC getting ECNL they will try to make sure THUSC has a bad name so less kids might come over. Could be FC parent as well as they won't want to lose any girls.

Let's be real here though. IF (and it is a big if) THUSC gets ECNL plenty of talent will go to them. I know my daughter will be one of them.

How do you think thusc has become successful. By giving other clubs bad names as a reason not to go to a specific club or by stretching the truth about themselves. All you have to do is sit down with TA and a beer and you will get his input on what he feels about other club. He is constantly critical of the other club he share fields with and in some instances has even told individuals that works closely with the club. He is just a choice individual.

Worst club on bad mouthing is WSM. Their DOC and many of their coaches bad mouth every other club out there. Cony is the worst of all. He has said nothing but terrible things about ESU, THUSC, and FC.

NOt where I am at. Many started and had fun, but very few have continued on in soccer. Many have focused on other sports and activities.

It would be interesting to see how many played U9 soccer total all clubs in THPRD compared to how many are still playing at U14 or U15.

Which brings the question of whether you should be in district to play at THUSC, WSM and other clubs? How many are out of district?

Since there is a shortage of fields and it is hard to get enough field time for all the teams, should it be required to be in district? Our neighborhood club has to fight to get field time. Our rec teams almost never get anytime ont the turf.

Is it fair for us to be paying for the fields when out of district kids are playing on them? Is there a requirement to pay extra fees for out of district players at all of the TH clubs?

Certainly THPRD has enough players to field at least two teams per age group.

The reason you have seen so many quit is because you are still involved in rec soccer. Competitive kids want to play with the best and against the best. They dedicate much of their spare time to their sport and are very devoted. There are many kids out there like that.

There are rules set in place with the amount of in district kids you must have and yes out of district kids pay additional fees.

And yes there are enough kids in Beaverton to field 2 teams per age group but wer are trying to field the BEST teams possible so we can compete outside of our little Beaverton area. Club soccer is competitive soccer. The clubs are paying additional money to THPRD for field useage.

Just give TA some time and he will convince your best players to join and then take the credit for developing them.

Your right just like every other doc at every other club. This happens across the country. Top it off a lot of these clubs also offer free rides(scholarships).

If saying that ESU is like a clown car because all of their coaches are a joke is a compliment then I guess you're right. If spreading lies about THUSC and FC merging because they have no talent is a compliment then again, you're right. If lying about THUSC losing their fields is a compliment then I guess so.
