    Re: Oregon Premier League Cup

Good to be home, the girls are over ready to have some time off. Good Luck to Sunderlin and Ireland may the best team win.

On the U13 front the Final game will be LOSC Extreme vs Keizer Hotshots.

Sodium could never get out of the box. Played sluggish and as often happens, played our competitions game instead of our own. Keizer played a good physical game and deserved to win this 1-0 match.

LOSC handled the Eugene Magic team 3-0 on their way to the Finals today.

Best of luck to all teams playing today!

      Cheers! :D

        Re: Oregon Premier League Cup

The GU14 Final was a another good battle between Eastside & Southside. Like the three previous matches, this one was back and forth between the 30's, except this one actually had a team prevail in regualtion. Ireland maintained possession for appx 60% of the time and put several shots on goal. #2 had a breakaway in the 15th minute and converted a nice shot to give Ireland the 1-0 lead. It stayed that way thru halftime.

Sunderland came out firing at the start of the 2nd half. A shot from beyond the 20 resulted in a corner kick when the Ireland keeper blocked it away from goal. The first corner kick resulted in a high shot that the Southside GK tipped over the goal which gave ESU another CK. The second corner resulted in a scrum on the 6 yd line; Ireland's defense tried unsuccessfully to clear the ball, but Sunderland got a foot on it first and zipped it in goal for the equalizer. That was the first and only goal allowed by SSC Ireland in the tournament.

Ireland came back within a few minutes to mount an attack. An ireland midfielder was fouled inside the 18 resulting in a PK which #1 (the former SCSC Nemesis player) shot in nicely for the go-ahead (and ultimately winning) goal. It stayed pretty even for the remaining 15 minutes. Final score: Ireland 2, Sunderland 1.

Many thanks to the ESU crew and families for a well-fought and cleanly played match. Both teams played well and deserved to be in the final game. Thanks, also to Eggy and Shu's Daddy for attending today's game with their DDs. Congrats also to WSM Harambee for playing to the level everyone knew they were capable of, including a big win over FC Portland Marine. Their performance in the tournament has to bring them up solidly into the Top 10 of Blue Chip's Oregon GU14 Rankings. OSA Milan also did very well last weekend. State Cup should be VERY interesting this spring. :)

One final note/update on the health of Ireland's centerback #16; a second MRI showed an ACL and an MCL tear in her knee. She goes in for surgery in a couple weeks then a minimum SIX MONTH rehab before sports participation can be attempted. That means no State Cup and no ODP for a very talented player. Our best hope is that she can participate in High School try-outs in August. Tough break. Get well soon, M.

Tell #16 sorry and hope rehab will go good. Congratulation on the win you girls deserve it. See you at the State Cup, Cora is not doing ODP this year she needs a break and let her ankle heal. Good Luck to Kat if she is trying out again.

Thanks, ST. I will send along your best wishes to #16. Tell Cora to take care and heal up soon. We'll miss her at ODP. Thanks, for the best wishes for Kat; she is going to try out for ODP again and will focus on getting to regionals this time around. Thanks, again for a good match in the semi-finals, and GOOD LUCK to Rush in the FWRL. See ya at State Cup! :D

              Re: Oregon Premier League Cup

It would be nice to play each other again when both teams are healthy. So hopefully they will all be healthy by State Cup. Wish #16 would be there too she is a good defender. Good Luck Kat at ODP. Sound like there are a few girls that are not going to try out this year that were on the team last year.

Wah, I thought Harambee was already #7 in Blue Chip's rankings before this tourney.
