PDX vs Ireland Round 2, ESUFC vs Ireland

It sounds like the PDX vs Ireland game last Wednesday had some highlights and some lowlights. Both teams are quality teams working through some injuries.

Sunday's game (part 2 of 3 games these two teams will play in a three week period) looks to be another barn burner. Despite the tie (NWCL) Ireland will move on as the #4 seed in the U16 semi-final. Let's root for them as the only Oregon team to qualify.

Sunday's re-match game (OPL) is the first of two league meetings between PDX and Ireland.

But, before Sunday, Ireland has to play ESUFC in a game that should turn out to be a good one. Sunderland has added a couple of quality players and should give the THUSC team a run for their money.

Good luck to all three teams- let's hope for no injuries.

Quality, informative post - thanks! I believe that Ireland are #3 in NWCL rankings so they will play VUSA Timbers in the semis. Hope they can give the WA teams a run for their money.

Anybody able to give a game report? How did the other U16 OPL games go today?

Looking forward to watching the FC Portland vs Ireland game today. This should be a good re-match from Wednesday's NWCL match. I wish I could have seen the game on Wednesday.

I predict that this will be another hard-fought clean game between these two top teams. I have heard that both teams are missing players to injury. Lets hope that neither teams has any further injuries and the neither team blames performance issues on injuries.

Play with heart and fire! Shake hands after the game, then go Face book each other.

Good post! I am hoping for a good game between these two teams also. During yesterday's game another Ireland player got injured, had to be carried off the field by a coach and player. Hopefully she is ok!

Is it just me or have there been a greater number of injuries this season than most? My daughter plays U15 and in their game yesterday 3 players had to be helped from the field and in U16 level it sounds like there has been many injuries. What's the reasoning?

I heard that the Portland Timbers asked the Blazer training staff to supervise the Ireland workouts this winter. Maybe they are facing the same problems as the Blazers with injuries. They are the same level of athlete.

Some injuries are aches and strains, others are more serious. I known that on our team several players brought injuries from the HS season. Some HS coaches go way over the top with conditioning and the intensity of daily training.

Also the top players are playing way too much soccer year round and it is bound to catch up with them at some point.

Please remember you are talking about 15/16 year old girls by referencing the team you did. I find this post distasteful and inappropriate.
