They were talking about the importance of consistency so it doesn't matter who is playing on the field. I had read on here so many times that Adrian's requirement to have a style of play is wrong but I think it is what should be happening in the youth club. Like in school, there is a general consistency to what you learn in a curriculum, that would make sense in soccer to me. Especially if you switch coaches, or even teams, having a common style would be helpful.
I agree. I think you can see this in most championship programs in any team sport. They start them playing the system in the youth leagues so by the time they are in their teams, they are comfortable running the formations. People that club jump are giving their kid diversity but they are never really mastering the system. There are some intrinsic values learned by practicing the same system. You learn the little things that all add up to the big moments.

Style of play is simple ( Keep the ball ) Possession soccer

If your coach teaches kickball then find another coach. As for formation

4-4-2 is played by Pro team
4-2-3-1 is what our coaches are asked to teach our youth players

US Soccer recommends you teach 4-3-3 system of play

either way stop kidding yourself it comes down to technical ability to play soccer. Can your child pass, recieve and move the ball quickly

No decent coach is against keeping the soccer ball.

What about beating a player 1v1?

No the AH vision is robotic and puts creative players on the sideline. Messi at a young age would of been sitting for AH.

Orlando City = Robotic non creative soccer just wait and see what kind of players are created in this system of play.

good system of play once a player is fully developed but not for kids learning and experimenting with the game.

anyone can play but creativity is key. Teaching 10 year olds to simply play robotic is a huge mistake

Creativity is not valued at OCYS. The ability to kick the ball into the air and chase it is greatly valued there. Thats why they play the 4 2 3 1 formation. 6 players in the back that can kick it in the air to the 4 upfront.

                    Estimates, please

If that's how you are playing then you are clueless. The 1 plays with their back to the goal as much as forward. Its not a long-ball situation. The two outside backs come forward and the three play out of the center. It's a very creative formation that allows for dynamic kids to play. Everything you bozos are complaining about is absolutely wrong.

You may be able to bs some of the parents who don't have a clue but I understand the concept and so does us soccer. A 4231 allows a player to be flexible and change to a 433 when needed to adjust to another teams tactics. Trying to say it stifles creativity just shows either your ignorance or your position to sway people away from OC. I believe that consistency is important in any method a child learns. 1v1 is very important but it also important to know what your teammates are thinking and planning to do on the field. I teach and understand the learning process very well.

Part of that was self imposed though right? I was talking to a parent of a U12 kid and he said they were asking kids from the bottom teams not to come back for tryouts. So I guess they want to keep the number of teams down.
