Heat Maps; Castol Index

I came across "heat maps" during the Federations Cup, but haven't seen any more since. A heat map is graphic showing where a player spend their time during the game. The following link shows Dempsey and Kaka in the US v Brazil game.

The same web site maintains a ranking of players that that is theoretically objective. The web site has an explanation of their methodology.

The US players are ranked in a reasonable way, though Jermaine Jones shows up in 4th place and I don't think he's ever played for the US (yet)

Just curious, what is it about the heat map that you need that google analytics does not provide?

I was unaware that Google Analytics provided any statistical information about player positioning during a soccer game. Can you provide a link to an example?

ESPN was showing heat maps for Beckham and Beckerman during the MLS Cup broadcast.

FIFA has an impressive amount of information for each player in the world cup.
