You are correct stops at state level...

Oh wait, did she not receive coach of the year for the REGION and is now up for the 2008 USYSA NATIONAL award...

She has been on the REGIONAL ODP staff for the past 10 years and is the one coach from Michigan traveling to EUROPE with a REGIONAL team this March? She has a NATIONAL A and Y license.

Won't be long till she will be teaching the coaches in your club when they show up for the E course. Oh I forgot the coaches in your club are proud not to have a coaching license...

    You are a joke.

With the above written statement, if there is ever a post that gets reported, submitted or what ever, it is this one.
I would hope to God that isn't her posting.
There is going to be severe bias, they better have her do the training on the west side of the state and not train coaches in affilated leagues.
Reading that, it looks like she is going to be giving problems at the coaching courses.

However, visit http://vardareast.com/ and you can get a chuckle because she has the only teams that has any quality in that culb.

The boys side is junk and the other girls teams are just revenue.

The whole home page is her.

She should consider making an all female club really.

I don't care for her, but not a bad idea to seperate from them and collaborate with an all women's run club.

        Re: Miriam Hickey

Wow, reading this thread of posts just confirms what I think anytime I get on this aweful site. The more a coach has accomplished the more he or she is bashed by (I would assume) people affiliated with a different club. It is an ugly business.

I have been all over the world and been part of some great teams in great competitions where the battle is fought on the field for 80-90 minutes (depending on the age of the players) and after the last whistle is blown coaches shake hands and that is it. The next day there are no posts on websites about my team beat your team and you suck. Coaches show respect for each other. Closer to home listen to what college coaches have to say in a post game interview. Winning or losing they always have something good to say about their opponent. For me the big difference between these national team coaches, college coaches and some of the people associated with soccer in this state that seem to think that posting anonimously on websites somehow makes them feel good is twofold; these national team and college coaches have respect for the sport and they have grown in an soccer environment where standards are much higher. Unfortunately some of the anonimous posters on this site are incapable of seeing the bigger picture.

I have been in soccer for most of my life and had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with great soccer minds that are/were successful at the highest level. Even these coaches were humble enough to realize that learning is a never ending process and that you can learn something new from anyone.

We have only lived in Michigan for 3 years and are starting to notice the extremes people go to in what is supposed to be a great sport.

I cannot speak for the entire state but only for the area the teams I coach play in and only for the U8-U11 age groups. Short term success is all that counts and it does not matter what needs to be done to accomplish this. Put the biggest kid in the back and have her boot the ball forward every time the ball gets near to her. (parents and coach call out Great job!) Certain (weaker) players do not get much playing time as that would hurt the bottom line... It is acceptable for some coaches to have a 9 year old pull the shirt of an opponent when she is on a break-a-way or just plainly trip her from behind to take away the chance to score. Elbows fly left and right and because the referee will only call about 20% of these fouls it is worth it to teach this to kids. Parents who club hop as they are chasing the dream of winning an indoor championship at U10.

It would be my honor to help coaches from whatever club understand that soccer is a team sport with rules where the development of skills for each player makes for a joyful lifelong experience. When coaches get educated, the experience players have on his or her teams will improve and that helps to develop soccer in this state and hopefully also keeps these young players in the sport.

Getting eduacated should be a must for every coach wanting to be taken seriously and who has the best interest of the players in mind. In courses/ clinics you do not only pick up new ideas, but also become aware that there is still a lot you do not know yet.

My accomplishments before I got to Michigan and in the last 3 years speak for themselves. I know who I am, what I stand for and what I have to offer to help develop this great sport. Guilt by association or name calling will not change that. And if you knew me at all you would know that I am nobody's puppet.

I could go on but a deadline to finish translating my 6th or 7th book on coaching soccer (sorry lost count) is coming up fast.

Again soccer is played on the field. Off the fileld everyone associated with the sport should be focussed on furthering the sport together.

If you are so great, from the previous post you seem to think so, why do you associate yourself with a convicted felon? Call USYSA for information and get yourself informed.

            FYI

you weren't bashed by me, I just said I don't like you.

You have a gift and really should consider your own club for girls, run by you as a director and have other women trainers with you.

                LOL,

MH, just hung herself. You just admitted to your guilt by association, which means he who is not to be named is training or affiliated with you somewhere down the line.

Sometimes, instead of advertising how "smart" we are, isn't a "smart" thing.

Get your nose back in the book and off the PC.

MH, your an a** (not defaiming because it's true) if it was you who wrote the lil note about coaches in a club not having a license. If they coach a mspsp team, they must be.

but anyway, you made a snyde remark about it, boosted yourself as the near all-mighty that you would be the one to train "them".

Now you write half a thesus on how gold the heart is to the sport and coaching and blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, shaking hands, kissing babies, etc.

                  But your no different.

The bike you ride has as many miles backwards and it does forward after you realize your on the wrong course or are approached when you smart-assingly discredit someone. That is not your personality I am sure, but that is a trait that is tought. That is the "he who is not to be named" Stick with me, I've been around in this country too long and I'll show you how to deal with.......place issue here....... method of coaching".

                    Re: Miriam Hickey

I do not believe I am so great, but I do have a lot of experience both as a player and coach and got myself educated in the process. I coach this sport because I love soccer and because I enjoy watching players improve.

As for my association with Mark, I see him about 5 times a year if we happen to be a the same tournament or indoor facility. He does not coach or train a team in our club.

Our club is young (3 years) and is doing fine. We have a staff of dedicated coaches and I feel fortunate to be working alongside them and look forward to the bright future ahead of us. With the economy the way it is in Michigan those clubs that are reasonably priced, have dedicated players, parents and coaches and can offer a quality product (not just about the W's) will grow.

But because I do not believe I can change the minds of those (anonimously) posting on here or have you stop twisting my words around. I will continue to focuss on my work from here on.

As I said before this is an ugly business. And I am afraid that this will not change in the near future. It will take at least a couple more generations before soccer has matured.

Again I know what I stand for and whatever the reason(s) you don't like me I could care less. Namecalling says more about your inability to communicate in a mature way than anything else. Here see what you made me do? Now I just wasted another 20 minutes of my day on this crappy website.

                    Have a great 2009.

No twisting of words, Miriam. A direct quote from your post...

"Short term success is all that counts and it does not matter what needs to be done to accomplish this."

Your words, not mine. Success at any cost is no success at all. My words.

Funny, MH says she rarely reads talking-soccer but refers to "peanut" in her post. Only someone who has been reading posts on this web site for awhile would know that the moderators censoring techniques have renamed M ark as "peanut". This "aweful site" as she refers to talking-soccer provided proof in detail of the love letters that were quoted in the Detroit News expose and have so often been referred to but were never seen to unsuspecting MI soccer parents.

Oh, and by the way, who is paying for MH's travel expenses to San Jose? Here's a piece of advice: Cancel your reservations. Michigan should check the original nominations. Does anyone smell a rat? Guilt by association will prevent this from going any further than Region II.

It is amazing to me how some can spend so much time on here criticizing one of the best trainers on this side of town. All for what? Because she might brush elbows with MC or because she might get a whiff of MC off of RC? Really? Is this what gets you so angry? You people seriously need other entertainment.

Start your own forum about your dislike for MC, or better yet, try doing something to better the game. Or we can talk about how crazy parents like yourselves are ruining soccer and other youth sports.

Running MH through the mill? Now I have seen it all.
