Johnny Frias – Surf Assistant Coach
Frias joins the Surf for the 2017 PDL season from the Boca United Developmental Academy Program. Coach Frias has extensive experience as both a player and a coach at youth, collegiate, and professional levels. As a player, Coach Frias played NCAA Division 1 College soccer at both Florida International University and Radford University, both of which were nationally ranked and participants in the NCAA tournament. In 2000, he was selected as a NCAA Division I South-Atlantic Regional All-American by the Adidas NSCAA coaches ballot. Jonathan played professionally for the Greenville (SC) Lions and Sioux Falls (SD) Spitfire, and still plays for the Northern Virginia Royals in the USL D3 Development League.
As a coach, Frias served as Student Assistant Coach for the Radford University, Technical Director of American Soccer Academy, DC United Academy, Boca United Academy, Monsignor Edward Pace High School and American Heritage High School head coaches before joining the South Florida Surf. He has served as a State Staff Coach for the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) ODP since 2006, and has served as head coach or trainer to more than a dozen youth travel clubs in Maryland and Virginia since 2003. Johnny resides in Boca Raton, FL with his wife and two children. He also holds his USSF “A” License.

Boca United is commencing its on field evaluation process to prepare for the 2017-2018 US Soccer Development Academy season.

Here is the most updated information on our BOYS ID CAMPS (scroll all the way to bottom of page for registration links):

ID CAMPS will be free of charge and will consist of a 90 minute training session with our Academy staff. We will answer any questions regarding the Academy program after these sessions. Below are the ID Camp dates. ALL ID CAMPS BELOW ARE HELD AT LOGGERS RUN PARK (LRP) or SOUTH COUNTY REGIONAL PARK (SCRP) IN BOCA RATON.

The US Boy's Development Academy consists of 6 Academy teams and 6 Pre-Academy / NPL teams where players will be eligible for selection to the Academy teams throughout the year. The Pre-Academy / NPL Teams will play in NPL’s Florida Premier League and also play in high level tournaments throughout the year.

U12 Academy and Pre- Academy - 2006’s & 2007’s

•Saturday, May 20th: Arrive by 1:45pm; Training will begin at 2:00pm @ SOUTH COUNT REGIONAL

typical of a small minded parent, but i will answer. Yes tarpon and gps tampa bay are smaller clubs, but they are on the rise. If you increase your numbers and added wff quality then you can apply and get access to npl etc. Also be careful knocking small clubs and league as they are the ones developing players left and right

I would not consider Tarpon to be on the rise. They are pretty much what they've always been-- a nice community club that produces a good player here and there and, every now and then, keeps enough of a team together to have a mid level squad. But they lost one of their most popular coaches to WFF, their best young player to TBU's DA, and their technical trainer (who is excellent) may or may not be moving to another state. GPS I assume will improve since GPS seems to do well wherever they go and Dunedin had 1 or 2 solid teams.

Never was a fan of self promotion- Everyone knows it's BBK players and no outsiders are making teams . Face it it shows if you play club soccer and not trained by BU you make the team sorry DA players you waisted your time they never develop you and a division 2 club players are better laughable don't you think!
