I agree with a lot of what you wrote except for the size and speed comment. If your kid is slow, then find a different sport (like golf) or they (and you) are going to be frustrated watching faster kids with less skill play more minutes

I've seen it hundreds of times.

Those WFF's County fields don't really sweeten the deal. Have you been there lately?

That's a good point, you have to be honest with yourself about your kid. You also have to recognize the difference between being inherently slow vs. not quite being as fast as the other kids. Speed can bloom late too and you can actually learn to run faster. But you can't fight mother nature in the end.

This team would beat everybody in the state except FL Elite and Weston DA.

@ u12 a kid should be able to juggle a soccer ball at least 100 times using both feet or he will be playing catch up technically. Speed on the ball is important. Size is also important. Vision and brains too. There are so many aspects to the game, not to mention mentality and confidence which are essential. Coaching is huge. Most coaches don't have a clue. It's a complicated sport. Good luck. Ps - my kid is playing in Europe.

excellent point on the juggling thing, and a lot of kids just don't believe they can. I remember my son starting a summer training session and the coach said he should be able to juggle 1000 times. kid though he was crazy. by the end of the Summer he was there.

also get a mini ball, should stay on their feet at home.

but again, once they get to mid teens if they haven't made it, they probably won't make it. Save your $$ and focus on college and career. For every dollar you spend on soccer - leagues, camps, training, etc. you should be investing AT LEAST DOUBLE that in a 529 fund. If you can't afford to do that, then probably time for a reality check.

It's a real question. Not trying to pick a fight, but your teams are all in the low competitive / high 'rec' category and FC Florida Prep has two Top 20 National teams. TCU Massive did have one big impact on the Treasure Coast. They charged something like $1,500 (is that true?) when FC Florida Prep charged only $1,000 - but now FC Florida Prep has increased their price to match TCU/Massive. Sucks for everyone.

Most clubs to do not have a millionaire daddy trying to build something for his kids. That helps keep fees low.

Seriously if your kid is not amazing a juggling at a 12 they seriously have no chance. It is all about touch and vision and quickness. You can see it at 11. And even with that, the chances are so slim. Get some fla prepaid people.

I agree on slow but he said "late bloomer" not slow.

For example, your kid is 13 and 5' but fast and skilled. He's very small for a u14. But by u17 he's 5'10". OP's point is don't freak out at u14. kid is a late bloomer.

you are correct slow kids generally will struggle.

Agreed. But US Soccer has decided to only provide 2 choices in south florida. Both are turds.

If you spend $2500 per year from U11 to U18 on league play, camps, etc., then the alternative at just 5% interest would be $20,000 for college.

That's a free UCF education. With Bright Futures that's a big dent into the vast majority of colleges in Florida

No the main reason some BKK parents only want to drive from Canon's to the field on their golf cars. Too lazy to drive 15-20 mins. It's all about the parents laziness not about where there can be a better path for their kids. Real talent at the end of the day are at DAs or you can continue to run up and down the state playing all these rec tournaments proclaiming yourself to be #1 in the State. BKK is not fooling no one.

For all mankind hopefully only the fields will be used from that disaster of Boca. Hopefully all kids will be replaced, team name changed, coaches replaced. The whole nine yards. It's entire existence should be erased from history books.
