Don't go to Space Coast United, as that club is NOT good for development, and is super expensive. It is a money charging machine.

They are a good team but if you are honest with yourself, with the top teams in DA and not participating in State Cup, the pool is diluted. ENPL is not a waste of time, but it's also not the only option. Playing on a quality team in Region III/FSPL with Disney Showcase, CASL and Jefferson Cup, plus the US Club FL Cup/National track gives players plenty of opportunity to play at the next level. There is not just one way to play in college and if you haven't figured it out yet, good grades and individual player/family efforts in the recruiting process are much more important than the particular club or league affiliation. Find a good team with a good coach and enjoy the ride. Acys has developed a very nice boys program with great results in a short time and they deserve credit and congratulations.Comment

SCU just had six teams go the State Cup Round of 16, three to Round of 8, two to final four, and one to the final. They must be doing something right. Advice for U12 and under from a U18 dad (boys team)
From a U18 parent whose son just finished his club career. it was very successful, but if we did it again I would hope someone would have told me..
- don't stress about size/speed, just worry about skill. I can't emphasize this enough. If your kid is an early bloomer and does well because of their size and speed and not skill, they will suffer in the long run. if they are a late bloomer but have ball control and can see the field, don't sweat it, just a matter of time
- don't get suckered. ID camps, summer camps with college coaches, showcase camps. I've seen 8th, 9th and 10th graders in droves at these camps. A complete waste of dollars. Get individual or small group training so you can make the best club team or ideally DA team during the season. Don't worry about these camps until you know for sure they are prepared game-wise and grades wise to make it in college.
- do what you can to make a DA team. Ours ended up getting solid exposure and college opportunities at the highest club level, but I can tell you getting onto DA just makes it a LOT easier. More and more college rosters and D1 and high D2 are DA players, and it will only get bigger. I don't know if ENPL will make a difference, but if you're not DA or top level club/ENPL then I would recommend not making college soccer any type of priority.
- same with the recruiting services. There's very little they can do that you can't if you can put in the effort. And what they can do for you is NOTHING compared to getting exposure at showcases, and then working to get INVITED to a college's ID camp. They cost way to much for what they can give you and they are VERY good at sucking up to your ego making it seem like you have to pay if you care about your kid's future.
- Grades grades grades. SAT SAT SAT. A 4.0 gpa and a 1400+ SAT will take your kid a lot further in life than soccer. Period. Take the money you would spend on camps and use it for PSAT prep, SAT prep and a nice vacation. You'll regret not having fun when you had the chance but decided to add yet another soccer weekend when you didn't have to.
- Know when it's over, and make sure they want it more than you do. It's really difficult when you realize that your kid is a B+ or A- player. A great teammate, a solid player on the field but just not quite the best. You've got to make sure that they are pushing to get over the hump because they want to, not because YOU expect it. Be open to having an honest conversation so that they can truly enjoy the end of their high school years. Sometimes playing HS soccer, getting grades in order and making off field memories is more than enough.
I know everyone thinks that their 12 year old is the next college or pro star. Just remember all the people that take your money to keep that dream alive don't have to deal with the consequences.
