So Armada is the only club not pushing up their tryouts to this weekend I guess.

Why would they? No one leaves their bubble in Jacksonville unless they are unhappy.

Clay is having evaluations this weekend and again later. Players who do not get the teams they want at FESA can come over to JFC and Clay to see if their is a team for them.

parents are unhappy if their kid doesn't get on the team the parents think they deserve so please club hop so your child can get something they don't deserve. What ever happened to working hard to get what you want. Then you wonder your kids are brats.

It only takes one kid better to come along for a player to lose out on his position or team. A club should find a way to keep players engaged and developing , understanding being relegated does not always equate to failure or not being talented.

Exactly! I agree. A club should have as much loyalty to the player as the player to the club. A second team does not mean its "bad" or your kid "isn't good". It just means there may other kids that are better and that is OK! That happens in life as a grownup.

But lets be honest what is the purpose of a fourth travel team? The Club only does that four money. You never will have somene be on the fourth team that will one day be on the 1st.

Probably so, but give the kids a good coach at that level and see what happens.

Wrong. It happened to my son. He didn't start competitive soccer until he was 11. Granted it was a smaller roster (U12), but he was on the fourth team. The next year he moved up to the second team (going to 11v11, both the first team and the second team had a larger roster). He struggled in the beginning of the season, but worked hard - a lot of time in the back yard and at the local park playing against a wall (I don't understand it, but it was stuff his coach said he should be doing, as well as juggling and sit ups and push ups). This year he made the first team...and, since we started back up for spring, he has been starting.

The purpose can still be about having fun, learning more in a game they will hopefully play for life, fitness, spending time with friends and teammates, not giving up on a dream. If the parents can afford it, why not???

They can do the majority of that at REC. But some kids hold out a chance but someone should sit down and talk with them revaluate their goals.

In rec soccer there are no thrills of tournaments, no thrill of traveling to games - it is so much more - its the experience. If the kid is OK with playing on a 3rd or 4th team regardless of the age group then so should the parent. Have you thought they just love the game?! Im just curious what are the parents hoping to get out of your kid being on the 1st and 2nd team? Are you looking for your kid to be the next MB out of Jacksonville? That would be like you winning the lottery.

No of course not but Coaches should set realstic expections to their goals. There is a girl on a U14 team at JFC that her and her parents really think she will go to college playing soccer, not on team that she is on.

Still time for growth and development and then perhaps DIII is an option, be a glass half full rather than empty person....Debbie Downer!
