I've heard that the varsity and JV teams have not scrimmaged together once this year. Makes sense... last year the varsity LOST every game to the JV....

What will happen next year? New coach? Why does the Lincoln middle school do so well year after year only to tank at the HS level? Lost to lasalle 3-0 tonight.

There needs to be a coaching change at Lincoln. They should be doing much better than they are.

2-2 tie tonight. LaSalle capitalized on a mistake and bad clearance on a pk. Kudos to them for finishing those two chances. Besides that, Lasalle was totally outplayed by Smithfield. LSA seems to only kick the ball forward and try to outrun the backs. That didn't work at all. Smithfield on the other hand builds their attack from the back and works the ball up the flanks and through the middle nicely with tight combinations and footwork. At times in the second half LSA was playing with 6 backs and Smithfield was still finding passing lanes and using little combinations to get through them.

If not for Smithfields slow start and a couple of bad bounces, this game would have been heavily one sided. Gotta give LSA credit for Capitalizing on those few chances though.

Been discussed many times on ts. Playing a ball in the air to isolate a skilled, speedy forward 1 v 1 with a defender is good soccer if that's what gets your team scoring chances. There's nothing kick and run about it if it plays to a team's strength. People just cry kick and run as a way of putting down an opponent even if they just tied them.

Agree sad. LSA coach wastes a roster of NEFC, Bayside and Stars talent forcing them to play kick and run/direct balls in the air. If you don't play her style, you end up on the bench. Credit to Smithfield for playing the game the right way.

I used to love it as the fat, right back when the other team simply possessed and didn't exploit their speed on the wings.

LSA coach doesn't exploit with wings. She plays her outside mids so far back they might as well be outside backs. It's her style.

Smithfield's outside wings were so far forward that most of the second half LSA looked like they were playing a flat 6 back line. Even with that many players back they still just pounded the ball out of the back, usually right to Smithfield back that just worked the ball right back into the final third again. Strange way for a team with so much talent to play.

I've seen them play Lasalle and Mt. Hope. Not the cleanest style of play. Good passing game but not overall impressed.
