And have the backup of more good players coming up....JV won the championship again this year and the middle school is starting playoffs (undefeated again this year so far).

Tons of boys and girls from Lincoln play premier. That's why both boys and girls middle school, jayvee and varsity are good. Lincoln also supplies LSA with plenty of talent too. Check out their rosters.

Prout will have a great returning team if seniors stay healthy and a new coach breathes life into them but biggest problem will remain at GK. It cost them a playoff berth this year and there is no one in line to replace graduating keeper.

With 2 seniors from Bayside U17 returning, defensive line will be tops in league but GK will be a big issue.

Okay, let's start by saying Lincoln does have a good program. However, let's balance that by noting that it is a big gap between D1 and D2 as evidenced by how Vets has done last couple of years in D1 and then how they are doing in D2. Vets would be near the bottom of D1 against this year.

It is of course a valid point of EWG success in D1; however, the counter is EWG has probably the POY (unless LSA goes unscored on and maybe the LSA GK gets a nod.. VC from Smithfield maybe as well) as well as a strong SR class..I think they will come back to the bottom tier next year.

Saying Lincoln would beat any of the top 4 D1 seeds is a stretch; I think Lincoln could be competitive against the bottom half, but only way to know is for the school to petition to move up..I'm sure CW would appreciate a breather in D2 or I think EWG is going to face the reality of being a small school trying to play D1 next year.

Also, having watch the Lincoln JV championship and then the NK-Portsmouth D1 JV championship, it was night and day the speed and level of play between those 2 matches..not a knock on Lincoln as you play who you play, just the gap in JV is the same as varsity.. I think Lincoln will have a nice run like EWG did if they stay in D2..I hope they petition for D1 though so these discussions get settled on the field..

Lincoln would give Tollgate and CW a decent game this year in D1, anyone from Prout up the standings would beat Lincoln by at least 3-4 goals.

Sorry but that is the truth, look at Vets. EWG is an anomaly this year as I'm not aware of any upcoming D1 recruits playing at Lincoln anytime soon?

              EG vs Smithfield Last Night

EG was the better team last night. Smithfield had a nice 3 year run and now like most public high schools, will have to wait for the next wave to come through. EG has a chance to run the table, as they are playing with a team of upper class(wo)men. Good Luck EG (and SD). Nothing wrong going out against a well coached public high school team!

I have no idea how Lincoln would fare against the better D1 teams but it is worth noting that Lincoln is essentially a junior/soph team now. They only start 2 seniors in most games and the starting front six are all returning next year. The freshman class is loaded and played for the middle school state championship as eight graders. If they were to make a jump it would seem that next year would be the year.

Lincoln is well position to make the jump if they choose to. Many of their players in middle school and freshmen thru junior are heavily involve with premier clubs. However, there seen to be a common problem with high school soccer which is too many bad coaches. They will do well in the long run because they got a feeder system.

Re the JV girls championship, please remember that Lincoln crushed MSC 5-0 in their D2 final. It was never a game and the Lincoln coach subbed liberally in the 2nd half. The Lincoln jv girls are capable of playing at a much faster pace than what you saw. Almost every member of the LHS JV team plays premier.

D1 recruits? Like there's tons of D1 recruits on any HS team in RI.

No drama with That Kid on the field. Great goal keeper. No issues before that particular situation...and for the record she didn't "take a player out". Agree the call was by the book. Very unfortunate, but to call out the kid is just wrong. Many far worse situations with no calls much less a card. In this case no one was even hurt.

Talked to parents on the Pilgrim side - there was no reason for the foul other than the keeper trying to show she was in charge at a point in the game when the outcome was already decided. The call was correct from what i was told. You have to question the decision making process of the player who has played in bigger tighter games than this one?

NK JV coach is a good coach. After watching nk play in JV playoffs, he had his players actually possess and move the ball, unlike the varsity where they just bomb it up the field. Also SK boys JV coach is very good as well. Ironically both coaches played D1 at URI together. Yeah did some research on them but they were part of that last URI men's team that was nationally ranked! Maybe we will see them two take the helm of a program next year.
