Yep..EGW moving to D1 means D2 is bit more open this year and finally some of the speculation about EWG gets to be resolved on the field instead of on this site.

D1 is going to wide open among 5 or 6 schools, have to see how injuries or new players factor in..

Agreed, to bad they were not D1 last two years when they had more strength, lost a lot to of players last two years. But we are not sorry to see them leave D2.

yes..since the state of RI put EG high school on its "warning" list as an underperforming high school, it is now merging with EWG to become Exeter East-West Greenwich

Okay which 5 or 6 schools do you think. I see in no order LaSalle, EG, NK, SK, BV, Prout and we will finally find out about EWG.

what is it about Exeter East West Greenwich that you are trying to find out? With high school soccer, you pretty much have to go from year to year. You can't compare this year's EEWG with LaSalle from 2 or 3 years ago, and you can't compare EEWG of 2-3 years ago with this year's D1 teams. Whatever happens to EEWG in D1 this year can only speak for itself. The results can't be used to make the case that they either were or were not good enough to be D1 last year or any other year.

In high school soccer, having even just one all-state player on the team can make a tremendous difference. After all, there are only 11 1st team all staters out of nearly 1000 HS players. The returning 1st Team all state players are at Portsmouth, EWG and NK. Just by virtue of that, you'll most likely have those 3 in contention for post season berths. Look at Cumberland 2 years ago. Even with the tremendous talent in RI high school soccer back then, having a strong player made Cumberland as competitive as the teams with greater depth.

I would take Prout of the mix since they graduated their main goal scoer and one opf their bayside players is out with knee surgery.

Mt. Hope may play the spoiler in this conversation. They could play with any if these teams. And haven't lost many girls to graduation. Also getting injured players back that missed much of last season.

She was not the main goal scorer last. She wasn't really the same player after coming back from the second knee injury, who could blame her. As for the Bayside player she's probably not even one of their top 5 players

Prout had 3 All-Division players last year, these two players and the goalie who was also a senior.

I think the summer league standings reflect the way the season will turn out.

And a second team all state defender. There could have been easily three more girls who could have been all division but weren't.
