Nostradamus' legacy is at risk. Barrington beat NK 3 - 2 in OT. With his inaccurate prognostications, LaSalle and Cumberland had better be very careful...actually, LaSalle is the only one that he got right. LaSalle over SK 3 - 1; CF over shea 2 - 1.

LaSalle 2 - 1 over S.Kingstown. A very spirited game with poor officiating on both sides. Shame that #2 for SK was hurt. He got cut and couldn't stop the bleeding with about 20 min.left. That player is excellent and was really starting to make LaSalle work defensively.

The Lasalle-SK game WAS very spirited, and did have some weak officiating. A first half PK for Lasalle shaped the rest of the game.

The behaviour of the spectators was appalling, and the behaviour of the coaches wasn't much better.

Shea Players

The 19 & 20 year olds that play for Shea can't play in the DAP or ODP because they don't qualify age-wise. High School is the only place you can get away with putting man players out there against boy players. It won't matter. Shea is going down. All they want to do on the field is fight and it's obvious why. Their parents are obnoxious - they scream and swear very loudly the whole game.

I was at the Shea-Cumberland game. Projo story is pretty accurate. Cumberland packed it in and kept the game scoreless through the 1st half. But majority of play was in their end.

Shea finally scores on a free kick midway through 2nd, then another 10 minutes later.

The run that EB made late in the 2nd half ....that kid is so fast with the ball! You just can't keep up with him. He practically had the ball in the goal before he was taken down right at the 6. PK - good.

I thought Cumberland played a gritty, tough game. Shea has the horses, though. Fun game to watch.

LaSalle's score was in line with the competitiveness of the game. Scored a goal in each half. The last 10 - 15 minutes, up 2 - 0, LaSalle packed it in defensively and Barrington was only able to get one scoring opportunity.

Only saw the second half of the Shea game. It was 0 - 0 at halftime, Shea's pace and individual footskills were on display in the 2nd half. All 3 goals were scored from free kicks. 1st goal was from about 35 yards, well struck and the keeper misplayed it. 2nd goal was from 20 yards and it was well shaped around a poorly constructed wall. 3rd goal was a PK which was a result of Shea beating two players and the goalie and then tackled from behind inside the goal box...dirty play that should have resulted in Cumberland player being ejected, but only a caution was given. Shea goalie had to make one very good save in the 2nd half.

The finals will be interesting. Can LaSalle's defense contain EB and JC (should play physical, but not concede free kicks inside 30 yeards)? Can Shea's defense stay organized enough to prevent LaSalle's quick passing combinations in the attacking 3rd of the field?

Prediction: 3 - 2 LaSalle. LaSalle is a little more balanced, and has more depth than Shea. But, that is why you play the game.

At the first game, rumor was that several of the Shea kids will be academically ineligible to play in the final. That would be a shame because their 1 v 1 skill is fun to watch.

I know something. I know that this all sounds like BS. I'm pretty sure that if my kid was ineligible due to grades, no one would have any idea what was going on other than a very select group of people. The chances that people "in the stands" actually knew anything is probably very, very low.

If they couldn't participate in practice, then they wouldn't have been able to play on Monday night - which is when the rumors began swirling. If there was a player missing on Monday night, it wasn't one of the "key" players for Shea. I would hope that everyone would like to see these two talented teams play their best game on Sat. with all of the talented players that got each of them to this point.
