I will second that vote. Not only because you are barely literate, but because you are looking at the summer league results and comparing it to the actual results that one can expect to see from RIIL this coming year. I also "vote"----MORON

Portsmouth came in 4th place in Division I the past two years. They lost a couple of their best players and have the same coach, so the best they will do (maybe) is 6th place. East Greenwich and LaSalle in the finals again, no brainer.

Not only a no-brainer, but in addition, I would make the call for EG this year to win it.

          In fact, let it begin:

D1 East Greenwich defeats La Salle (at end of season, Scituate, Warwick Vets, NK, Cranston West go D2)

D2 Pilgrim defeats EWG (at end of season, EWG, Lincoln, Pilgrim, Ponagansett go D1)

D3 Burrillville defeats Narragansett (no movement of teams)

NK is too big to go D2--won't happen. Besides, they have made a coaching change and will be looking for radical improvement. Also, Mt St Charles and Tiverton are strong candidates for D1. I would pick those two along with Pilgrim and EWG to move up.

With such a dismal performance last year I just can't imagine NK getting a whole lot better. Though I would think that they would move off the bottom. MSC does not have a good team. Unless they pick up some much better players this year they are not D1 worthy.

MSC lost some players and yes, NK will improve, but how much?

Too bad, the urban schools do not have good coaches like the schools from the suburb and private schools. If they do can you imagine how the soccer landscape would look like. Their are soo many talented kids in Providence but chooses not to participate because they say the coaches does not know anything about soccer. There a few bright spot like Shea and Classical, Central Fall but can say good things about the rest. Also Providence if I remember does not have a youth soccer club to support and nurture the talents they have. The other thing is this pay to play really hurt kids that does not have acces to resources and programs such as local clubs and premiership.

How many urban schools are there in RI? North Providence has the NPYSA for kids, a pretty strong club. But I agree--there are issues.

Providence has many good players both boys and girls the problem is a bit of everything .The girls sometimes don't even practice because they don't have space.
A lot of turnover on the girls side for coaching .

On the boys side I think all of the school hope, mt, centrall , classical have very good players but sometimes the coaching is not there or they lack continuity from JV to varsity.

Providence does have a youth soccer club Capital. They folded for a year because they couldn get a field to pracitce and play the field that they used was vandalized and all the large and small goals were destroyed.

Capital has started to rebuild and this year they field u8 to u19 boys and girls and had a good season which is going to boost the high school program since now coaches will get the decent kids with some dicipline and organization .
The clubs are loaded with providence players especially the young ages the better ones will be swopped by lthe private schools but that will still leave some good players.

the kids that can't pay to play still play in the ethnic and church leagues . The problem with these leagues is that the coaching is not good but they at least get to play.

No doubt! Even if that was the right thing to do, And I believe it is, the politics involved will make it tough.

Look for NK and Prout to improve in D1. Both should have strong seasons.

Losing one of the best players in the state won't help, but NK JV squad went to state finals..and was undefeated until last final game I believe..so big improvement maybe a year or two away.. won't go D2 with all the talent coming up the pipeline (assuming some of the girls don't move to Prout, LaSalle, etc, like a few have in the past).

Problem with the movements are based on past performance, which does not always predict future performance. Less regular season games and add an overall State Championship title like in basketball.

JV is not a good predictor of future Varsity teams. The JV players are typically the REC kids or lower end premier players that still want to play soccer in High School. There are some very strong school programs that can use their JV squad as a feeder to the Varsity team but most of those JV kids will remain on JV until they no longer play soccer. One of the few exceptions might be a Goal Keeper where the #2 keeper has little or no chance of playing Varsity , so they settle for JV.
