Great to have the middle school season underway! Lots of games this week.
Good to have Lincoln boys and girls back in the Northern Division again. It's more fun and more interesting to play against local rivals. Not to mention the shorter bus trips.
I also noticed that Curtis Corner and Davisville boys battled to a 0-0 draw yesterday down south.

How does the Central division look for the boys? Since Lincoln moved to the North (where I agree they belong), is Gallagher the cream of the crop? I have heard that Coventry is no longer coed, will that adversely affect them? Any ideas about Deering or Cole?

That being said, Gallagher is always good since Smithfield YSA has such a solid program. Plus, the parents in Smithfield have money so they afford premier clubs. But, last year's Gallagher team was dominated by 8th graders, so I really don't know what they've got coming back.
Cole was a tough, physical team last year. Again, being in East Greenwich, they've got a good town program and money to play for premier club training behind the school team. I'm sure they're good, too.
If Coventry is no longer co-ed, then that might hurt the boys team since their girls players were very good. But Coventry always does well in SuperLiga so I expect them to be solid.
I know nothing about Deering, so I can't offer an opinion.
On the girls side, my money is on Lincoln.

Interesting 2-2 tie between Mount and North Cumberland boys yesterday. Very unsettled Northern Division. Dust will clear a bit this week with some key matches.
I see that Curtis Corner boys are hitting their stride with a convincing win over
Narragansett.
Feinstein continues to look strong in Central in both boys and girls.

Wild, tough boys match yesterday in awful, rain-soaked conditions between Lincoln and North Cumberland. Ended in a 1-1 tie.
This year's boys middle school northern division season has been a blast thus far. Lots of close matches, no clear-cut favorite yet. Mount, Lincoln, North Cumberland all in the mix. North Smithfield and unknown. The next 3 weeks are going to be a lot of fun to follow. I am going to sit back and enjoy it, however it turns out.
I asked my boys what they liked more - their Sunday MASC matches or their middle school matches. Both gave me the same answer: their Sunday club matches are played at a higher level, but the middle school matches are played with greater spirit and intensity.
I love soccer season.

Lincoln tied a spunky Burrillville boys team yesterday - our 5th tie in 8 matches. 3-0-5 record, we're still undefeated but have only won 3 out of 8. Crazy. So many ties in the northern division this season. Parity amongst the top 4 teams.

Middle school season winding down this week....
Only 2 unbeaten teams left in boys ranks; Cole and Lincoln. Ironically, neither is in first place in their divisions.
Northern division finishing up with a wacky grouping of 4 teams within 4 points or so of each other. Lincoln has the best D, North Smithfield a very aggressive team that doesn't always show up...North Cumberland the fastest, most athletic team. Mount limping into the playoffs after losing its last 2 games....
Don't know much about that Slater team that won eastern division, but last year, Eastern division teams flamed out in the early rounds of playoffs....can Slater carry the torch for east?
Central division and southern division are traditionally strong...it will be interesting to see how Cole and Deering do. I expect both to be very good.
Curtis Corner is a perrennial fav and performs in the states...last year losing in final in a 6 -shot shootout to Lincoln....
On the girls side, it's between Lincoln, Cole and Feinstein, IMO. They seem to be a bit above the rest....
Playoffs start next week. Enjoy!
