Is HS the same as ECNL or GDA? No, but most players (obviously including the GDA ones) enjoy the experience. Sure, there is a lot more kicking and running, and some ridiculous fouling, but overall the kids have fun doing it. And almost every school has at least 2-3 players that are in ECNL or GDA. Some have a lot more.
GDA was supposed to be all-in, training 4x a week with a strict practice to game ratio. But, between the lousy experience that Fury offered (both coaching and facilities), there wasn't enough of a draw to make players sacrifice. So, PR made up his own rules telling people it is OK to play HS, since he knew he wouldn't have players otherwise.
And here we are...now truly the teams are decimated as people finally are coming to their senses and have left. Are the other clubs/leagues perfect? No, not at all, but at least you know what you are getting for the most part.

So, even when you take out those and look at the meat of the middle, ECNL still has a little better of the teams overall. Still some crap, but still better overall. It's not as big of a spread as most make it out to be, but still there.
And, I'm a GDA parent from another NE state who has experience in both leagues in various age groups over the last 3-4 years.
Unless there are player development standards and relegation- all the discussion about which league is better is based on an anecdotal evidence of a ‘strong team’ and not on facts.

But at the end of the day, not sure what the fuss is about. Your kid should play where she feels her goals are being met.

This. I don't understand the constant barrage of comments. Like, why do any of you care what the others are doing?

If the teams that are beating the crap out of ECNL teams 5-0 and 4-0 and then go and compete against non ECNL teams and dont post the same results there can only be one conclusion:
ECNL is garbage outside of 2-3 teams in each age group.
