And...? I'm not understanding your response.

Is HS the same as ECNL or GDA? No, but most players (obviously including the GDA ones) enjoy the experience. Sure, there is a lot more kicking and running, and some ridiculous fouling, but overall the kids have fun doing it. And almost every school has at least 2-3 players that are in ECNL or GDA. Some have a lot more.

GDA was supposed to be all-in, training 4x a week with a strict practice to game ratio. But, between the lousy experience that Fury offered (both coaching and facilities), there wasn't enough of a draw to make players sacrifice. So, PR made up his own rules telling people it is OK to play HS, since he knew he wouldn't have players otherwise.

And here we are...now truly the teams are decimated as people finally are coming to their senses and have left. Are the other clubs/leagues perfect? No, not at all, but at least you know what you are getting for the most part.

I don't understand your statement. If your daughter was a 4year starter on an ECNL team, she never played GDA, so why are you even on this page

It's not as big of a spread as most make it out to be, but still there.

And, I'm a GDA parent from another NE state who has experience in both leagues in various age groups over the last 3-4 years.
PDA teams that won all ECNL championships last year were the same teams that struggled with GDA playoffs. At the same time as PDA claims ECNL is better, the same teams that blow out teams 4-0 and 5-0 in league competition as they use to in local GDA.

Unless there are player development standards and relegation- all the discussion about which league is better is based on an anecdotal evidence of a ‘strong team’ and not on facts.

My bad. I guess we don't include Pre-ECNL where you play all the same ECNL teams. You get the point though. I think your original statement was GDA kids were from NPL or something like that. In our case that isn't true. Also isn't true with kids that she played over the years in ECNL that now are in the GDA.

But at the end of the day, not sure what the fuss is about. Your kid should play where she feels her goals are being met.

GDA had joint age groups at that time. Not an accurate comparison. And the teams that did great were the younger teams. Super try though.

This. I don't understand the constant barrage of comments. Like, why do any of you care what the others are doing?

If you have been around for the past 3 years, you would understand that parents who chose GDA as their kids place to play, constantly put down, and made fun of players who decided to stay in ECNL or NPL leagues. Now that the GDA has become the 3rd tier league in the Northeast, Good luck trying to stop the banter.

Didnt that "young pda championship team" (wolves) loose to a town travel team (clarkstown) two weeks ago? Same thing happened to the 2002 team when they played outside of ECNL. They were getting DESTROYED.

If the teams that are beating the crap out of ECNL teams 5-0 and 4-0 and then go and compete against non ECNL teams and dont post the same results there can only be one conclusion:
ECNL is garbage outside of 2-3 teams in each age group.

If GDA is 3rd tier what are the top 2 tiers? Just wondering how we should all live our lives based on your myopic views.

It us all overpriced disappointing soccer all around. Are you all even watching any of these competitions in any of these NE leagues. Rarely does any of it ride above the level of pretty good. You all need to get over yourselves. Just go play some soccer and then your player will grow up and do something else except for maybe two players in all of NE is all age groups. Relax

I will bite on your stupid comment, no one that I know (NYCFC) was putting-down ECNL or USYS when the GDA started, all us parents wanted was the best environment for our children, and WCFC was pushing the better players to GDA. If your family was not asked to join GDA then you always had ECNL or NE NPL. Ironically, its the really insecure ECNL parents from the 02 and 03 teams that were the nasty gossips around the complex. They were forever angry that their little HS star was not involved....I hope they all drop dead, every single one.
