There is a huge difference between 30 minutes and 90 minutes. What do you have? A chaffeur? Most families can not taxi their kids to a team an hour away...ONE way.

The entire population of MA north if I93, and most of NH, needs 90 minutes to get to Stars at that time of day. How do I know? The 5 players who jumped ship from Stars this year told us directly.

Trust me...I thought long and hard about trying to make it work but could not.
Not according to the parents of the kids on my daughter's Stars ECNL team that live up there. The fact is, it's much easier to make Seacoast's DA teams than Stars ECNL. I'm sure that fact plays into the decision that is "based on proximity". There are plenty of NH kids in Lancaster during the week. Perhaps the ones that "jumped ship" had a few additional reasons....

Plus the ##$$%@ times of some of these practices. 5:00?

With traffic in my area to get to an ECNL club it's about an hour with no traffic, up to 90 with. Add it I have to backtrack 30 minutes to get my kid, I have to leave work at 2:30 to pick her up for school just to get her there on time.

            WTAF...

Depends....talking Stars B team or their A team? A team can't be touched, but their B team and the Seacoast teams are comparable.

The 1.5 hours example I used is between the 2 furthest GDA/ECNL clubs in MA. If you are at SSS, you literally could drive by Scorpions, then NEFC on your way to FC Stars--all in an hour and a half. Lots of high level teams in a relatively small area was the point.

Hmmm.. in my daughter's age group, kids that were offered ECNL Regional at Stars are playing GDA at Seacoast.

Hmmm...the girls I know who in one age group played with GDA Seacoast girls and ranged from good to "meh". As one would expect with the B team.

I don't have a chauffer (loved the sarcasm, though)... Like many of the families on my daughter's team, we carpool with families that live near us (about 50 min away from the club). Some families are willing to find ways to make it work. Some are not. Either way it's a personal/family decision and I won't throw stones at someone who is unwilling to drive more than 15 minutes from home OR someone who is willing to drive 2 hours. Everyone's situation/kid is different.

I think this well said, and it should get more consideration than it does. Everyone's situation is different, whether it be the kid's goals/drive; the club's direction/coaching/location; the finances; familial considerations.

Not everyone is in a position to choose the ideal situation. Some choose the best situation what is available to them.

Because the ideal situation does not exist. The entire youth soccer industry has become corrupted by money and trying to manipulate access to competitive colleges. Only in the us does college education have anything to do with athletics whatsoever.

That said. No player can control that the youth soccer industry has gone off the deep end. Hope players can get something positive out of playing regardless of the abuses inherent in the system.

I think Larry Miller ratted out the girls from Fury. His site hasn't had this much activity since the Fury coach was accused with Fondling his player

MA--NEFC is within 30 min of FC Stars, SSS within 30 min of Scorpions. All are within 1.5 hours of each other.

CT--Oakwood is within 45 minutes of CFC and FSA

Long Island-- 2 GDA and 2 ECNL clubs in very close proximity--absurd

New Jersey- STA and Match Fit are pretty close to each other... Cedar Stars and PDA are within an hour

Even Seacoast in NH is within 50 min of Stars...

The idea that GDA was created to address geographic areas where there was no high level league available is BS.
May as well heap on that NYSC and World Class are 20 minutes apart.
