any of these kids going D1 come June-Aug?

    most likely not

so lets stop pretending these actions even matter to anyone but the families the consequences were imposed upon
It impacts their teammates - their club teammates who now have forfeited games on the record books. Possibly their HS teammates because if they leave HS now they're not there to help the team in the final weeks + playoffs.

If they are in GDA shouldn't they be D1 material? There's part of the problem - they aren't.

Gda, ecnl, etc, has nothing to do with being d1 material. These are businesses and they sell their products to interested customers regardless if they are D1 material or not (whatever that is because there is a huge disparity of talent in d1 and most leagues)

Hey, what happened to all those parents who said their daughters didn't want to play HS ball? I often wonder how many parents actually ask their kids before they sign them up for things

Is this a real question? How would an anonymous poster respond to this? "My daughter didn't want to play HS and yes we also talked about it before the season." Now what? What do you do with this information with no context because you have no idea where or who we are? This site really is full of idiots.

Won't speak for everyone, but I know my daughter is adamant she doesn't want to play. Like we do every year, we sit down in the Spring and discuss what she wants to do next year. Keep pushing forward, pull it back, play for school, don't play for school, different club, etc.

I assume everyone does the same. Maybe not?

More important, I wonder how many parents want their kids to play HS because they remember their glory days and want the same for their kid; no matter if it's just a different world today.

The entire girls gda is really about getting rid of the ecnl. It is not working all that well but that is the goal. I say make something work for your players. None of them can do anything about this dismal cat fight among the leagues so just try as best you can to make it through. I support any kid that figures something out even if it different from what works for mine.

Support soccer players and aim your fire at the lousy industry responsible for this disaster instead of at the payers.
The scenario you paint is nonsense. You dont get to that level without years of dedication and you dont suddenly give it up when the option of heavily subsidized College at some of the top academic institutions is available.

Having said that, managing your load is a rel concern that should be taken seriously by all players to a degree. Neither league is talent driven. Bottom line is unless you incentivize developing talent, nothing woll change. The myth that underscores all this is that becaue teh WNT is good, HS, ECNL, GDA , College is clearly a talent driven model. If there was real money in Womens soccer globally, the USA would have a real tough time staying in the top 5 based on its current model.

The model would clearly change though

I think that myth has been well exposed. There is talent diluted through all the different watered down leagues but it is not that difficult to get a spot on a team in one of these " competitive" leagues if you have the time and money to participate.

Maybe that is the case in LI

what is difficult is getting these parents to understand is the level of talent of their player

so they pay and then complain without stepping back and being honest about the capabilities of their kid

^^ The complaints from the rulebreakers seem to center around "well there's nothing else out there". My response is: So what? If this level is perceived to be crap where you are, it's unnecessary, and you have players that are going to top out at HS or DIII anyway...why are you even bothering with the whole scheme?

You got that right. And then we head out and play teams from other places and it is a whole lot of slightly above average meh with a surprise gem here and there. What league age or conference are you in that is so impressive? Can't wait to hear this.

i dont understand why someone who signs up for GDA, and pays, what, $4k or thereabouts, would risk the ramifications of blatantly violating the rules. instead of lighting your money on fire, please forward to me.....

Moreover, why would they risk it to play High School soccer? Does it get any worse than High School soccer? IF you are a GDA level player why would you want to bother?

Have you seen GDA teams? Many littered with players that would not make their varsity teams ... especially in the Fall before the waivered kids return from their HSs.
