FYI, all the girls on the WNT all played HS....every single one.
How long has the Girls DA been a league? That's your WNT answer.

Absolutely for the youth teams but for the first team, they want to win. They will do what they need to do and get the players they need to get.

well for instance the boys da has not done us any favors since its inception 12 years ago.

in 2007 the USMNT was ranked 8th in the world, right now after 12 years of DA the men are ranked 20th!!!!
Lets not mention the fact that all the MLS Rosters are stacked with foreign talent!!!!

That is a false equivalency. The rest of the world is far ahead of the U.S. on the Men's side whereas on the Women's side the U.S. was ahead. That has more to do with things like Title IX etc.. And the rest of the world is now catching up to the U.S. Women.

Also do you think the answer to the men's game in the U.S. is to follow the ECNL pathway of training twice a week from roughly November to early June?

U.S. soccer shortcomings go far beyond the league name.

No it is incredibly relevant. We were holding our own, just, before BDA came along and now we're further behind. For every step men's soccer takes the rest of the world takes two. MLS and college rosters are filled with players that are got cut from international academies or are getting too old to play back home. When that stops then we know we're making some progress. When we go back to qualifying for international events, we'll just be back to where we were before.

You trust that crack organization to keep us ahead in the women's game? Both leagues are too big to meet the needs of the nation's top players - they need and want 4+ times a week. That applies to maybe 1% of players, maximum 5%. The entire system needs an overhaul - something much smaller for the top players, something else for the 95% who simply want to play in college/have no shot at going pro or being on the national team.

No offense but that sounds terrible. At what age would these sage talent scouts scoop up this elite talent and put them in a prestigious program? Kids develop at different ages. If a kid only trains 2 times a week they will never be a "top" player. Doesn't matter what league it is.

Can't argue with this guy, I mean FC Fury training is pretty close to HS level.....

Shhhhh, the DA rep may see this and agree with you. Or they'll just never admit to it.

I love how USSF thinks they're qualified to make decisions on the men side when they've never won anything. With some old MLS guy in charge as GM. Should have given Klinsmann a lifetime contract and try to change the culture in this country instead of the players whining how hard training is.

You know what the difference is between soccer in America and every other competitive sport in the world? In every other arena, the teams work hard to find the talent no matter where it is .... in American soccer, they pick 20 random kids and try to train them for every team. IN all levels (NCAA, semi-pro, pro) of football, baseball, hockey, european clubs .... tons of scouts/coaches scouring the ranks for blue chips and diamonds in the rough. In American soccer, the clubs/parents promote the kids and the stupid AF coaches eat it up and you get what you see on the field in every level of American soccer ..... pathetic, ugly soccer.

Talent has no value here. What is valuable here is a player with a paying parent.

If the talent itself had value, it would be found and developed.

Man you sound down, you should go have a coffee. Talent has a fair-market value, I say its at least 50% of the equation for a top team. Theoretically, everyone pays the same amount, or should. Therefore, in a fair environment, talent is what will ultimately prevail for game minutes.

Huh? Discussion is about in other places where talent has a monetary value. They buy and sell youth talent and the transfer fees pay for much of the youth soccer operations so soccer is cheap. Not permitted here. In most places, soccer is not a rich kids sport
