And one could argue they were the best club in the region and certainly well respected. Like someone said if you offer something people really want they're more willing to make the sacrifices. Too bad they aren't still in it to serve as an example of how it's supposed to be done.

Argue? They were the best GDA club in this region, and they are no more, we really enjoyed our 2 years in the sun, it was great, and my daughter was happy.

I will tell you what is sad and pathetic - NEFC the best GDA team in the NorthEast, flies down to GA for one game per team, and come away losing every game, not scoring a single goal, and having 15 goals scored against them. And the worst part is the best Tophat kids didn't even play.

Who cares if they won every game? Flying to ga to play one kid soccer game? Out of hand. What kind of silly "pretend we are pros" utter nonsense is that? Go ahead but that sounds ridiculous.

Agree the outcome doesn't matter (although if NEFC is now the top dog in the NE then it's yet another data point on how uncompetitive this region is) but the absurdity of this league has gone off the rails. If our club told us to fly to play one game I'd flat out tell them no. The costs of participating in these leagues is bad enough with national events, but at least those are part of the recruiting process and you play multiple games.

Families in the clubs have money to throw away. As long as they keep paying (and as we see by the recent college admissions scandal) there's money to be collected and the cycle will continue. All these affluent families in this area could never keep to a merit based system. They will always pay for the mediocre kids so they can continue to have bragging rights about something.
