I would narrow it down and say people the NE have no idea what the national soccer scene really looks like. They bicker about who is the best club around blah blah blah when players and clubs in the area are barely a blip on the national radar. Look at where the NT selections and top college players come from - it's rarely from around here. And as you said, even rarer that they make it all the way as an adult NT member, pro player or college super stud on a top college team.

Exactly. Soccer is about what club team or school team your kid is involved with except for a few rare exceptions and events. Unfortunately, The interest very rarely goes much beyond that outside of a a few pockets here and there.
Based on the angst filled posts you'd think everyone does. Some care a lot - way too much in fact. But most parents just enjoy watching their kids play and don't get caught up in the madness.

NE soccer is not that bad in terms of the player talent. We just struggle to put together super teams because the wealth of the NE region results in proliferation of clubs based on business opportunities. Respective of the actual top players, we are pretty well represented. Arguably the top two players on the USMNT are a kid from Pennsylvania and another from Wappinger Falls. The question for me is, should there be fewer teams so that the ones that are left can aggregate the players to be able to go and win at DA showcase events and DA playoffs, for both girls and boys, and does that even matter?

Of course that would be better. But it won't happen unless a league or two folds. We didn't need GDA (well, we needed changes but we didn't need another national league). There's too many leagues at the ready for clubs to play in and hide from local opponents. The landscape won't change unless families stop participating and paying for it. Most won't risk their kids' college recruiting potential and each year there's another round of new families getting sucked into the system to keep it going.

Yes, once of which has wealthy, former professional parents and trained a lot overseas.
Because, most of DA is not playing HS. The issue isn't as bad as made out to be, but that's typical with the agenda-based "news" on here.
Of course not "most" but certainly enough that it's been noticed. It's definitely way more than the last two years. Most times before when violations got called out the clubs quickly reigned it in. Now the clubs just let it fly.

I think it has become more clear which da clubs allow hs and which do not so the number of families feeling like they are in the wrong environment is much less. If your kid wants to play HS..don't choose the wrong da club. Conversely...if your player dies not want HS and does not want to be with any players that play hs...also choose wisely.

Chances are if a club allows HS play it's not a good one, so why do it at all? Most of their development will come from their club coaches. Letting multiple kids play is a desperation move.

Youth soccer is a business. Apparently there is a market for da players that want to play HS so someone provides it. Who cares? It is youth soccer. Hopefully you can something enough to your liking to sign up. None of it is even close to perfect.
