I know AS is playing High School Soccer now. Where is JS? is she hurt? or playing HS?

Have you checked the GDA or ECNL rosters? The answer is there. Also, SSS does not have U17 team.

Buddy of mine at SSS said beyond the stud players there's not much else there. Maybe that's ok with NE GDA. Not too many were happy about the move to GDA and definitely some solid players left. The rest are going to see how it goes, for now.

wouldn't it be great if the DA recognized these "studs" from each club and put together a regional team so that these players can compete with/against more formidable teammates/opponents

theres only like 1-3 players on each team who are impact players. identify them and let them get the quality touches they deserve

DA is way too big for the amount of talent out there, nor does it serve the needs of the nation's top players

That just piles more expense on top of an already unaffordable league. They already do take some players to compete internationally.

Not if USSF put some skin in the game. They're sitting on a $150M cash hoard. If MLS clubs could charge something, even a small amount with loads of scholarship $ available, to help with their expenses they could pitch in a few $ towards it. They want their top prospects challenged as much as possible.

You are missing the point of the whole thing. These leagues are designed to bring money in, not send any out. They will do things that help them generate business.

Just saying - imagine the possibilities if someone ANYONE actually cared more about the product than the checks. There are some great players across NY, but the market is so diluted (and parents are so impressed by wins and losses). It's sad to keep hearing the argument that there is no talent in our area when that simply isn't true.

The horse is out of the barn and several miles down the road already. It isn't just about all the clubs trying to make a buck but all the leagues trying to capture a slice of the market. They give all the clubs a place to hide. Without a complete restructuring of the landscape into a true pyramid, this will continue. But the leagues and parent organizations have zero incentive to cooperate with each other, so it won't happen.

not the poster but that's an interesting date he chose. My now 19 year old (soph in college) started playing premier at U11, I guess about that year? When he started the only time we left the state was for holiday weekend tournaments. All the top clubs at the time played at least some games in the state (we played them) and still played in state cup. Probably within 2 years, it was all different. The top clubs didn't play in state cup or in any state league - they were all regional and his club switched too. We all started passing each other on the highway to drive 1.5 hours each way for games, even though there was a top team 15 minutes from his club and another 40min away.

At that same time - the cost of putting your kid in competitive youth soccer started going up and up and up and up. And now apparently participation in youth soccer is gong down and down and down and down.
