Youth soccer seems like a very poorly organized 3 ring circus until you fully understand that all decisions are business decisions. Then it makes sense.

GDA basically told ECNL that their services were no longer needed and that USSF would not work with them. USSF dropped the bomb on them less than a month after their fall meeting when ECNL Sanford was going on back in 2016. USSF was simply drawing a line in the sand and trying to take no prisoners. They wanted all the power and all of the money and nothing else. No plan and no care for quality certainly.
"To put it simply, U.S. Soccer wanted to control the nuances of the discussion, while the ECNL wanted more to facilitate it. There are merits to both means, but the processes are far enough apart that they couldn’t be reconciled and then housed within one league. So at least for the near future, we’ll have two."
Again, basically, they met and Lavers and crew didn't like the approach and told them to poind sand. Which is totally their right.

In year one, just before GDA was lanuched, they had just met and USSF blatantly lied in October of 2016 saying they are not gettign involved and ECNL was doing fine and that they would continue to focus on the mens side. 6 weeks later while in Sanford tournament USSF dropped the bombshell that they were beginning GDA in the Fall. ECNL wanted to work out the details and work with USSF to reform so that there would not be a fracture of talent. USSF told them to pound sand and that they were doing it their way and that there would be no talks, end of story. They wanted all of the money and power that the women's side has that they could not create on the men's side. I hope the USSF national meeting planes crash so we can move forward.

USSF not only wanted control but they launched GDA not long after the first lawsuit by the WNT. It was an easy way for them to say "But we really care about girls! Look, see what we're doing!" So, they get try and wrestle control and $ away from ECNL and solve a PR problem at the same time

Is that better? I didn't even make the plane comment and it's just that, a comment. the only thing that ticks me off on this board is when adults attack kids behind a keyboard. You really need to take it down a few notches. It's just a discussion.

With kids in the game I get to complain while trying to machete our way through the jungle of youth soccer.

US Soccer is too arrogant and clueless to realize they're part of the problem
