There's lots of other teams and leagues to join if that's what you want.

Kids should be looking over their shoulder, seeing new players coming in and knowing they need to improve to play. Otherwise...just join a kickball league and be done with it.

That would be great if true. Club should be upfront about promises made. There should be no promises. Should just be promise of opportunity if earned.

we are all adults and we should all know how the world works...you shouldn't don't need to be told everything and/or be taken by the hand and/or wet nursed all the time.

Imagine you are working at your first job and your boss says to you "hey Timmy, you are not doing a good job and you are not performing to our expectations, we have to let you go"....what will you say? "hmm but sir, you never said i had to do a good job!!!???????".

If the rosters are built well from best kids available and not made overly large and all of the kids are improving, then you have a winner. If your coach rides 4 kids for wins and doesn't give a sh|t about the other 18 he has on his swollen roster, take your money and leave (that includes the top 4). We should never let them forget who pays their bills .... it ain't US soccer!!

Give me a break. The coach was 100% correct in how he handled it. Who wants to deal with some guy who never played the game sending him an e-mail that their kid should be playing more. Are you serious?

Do your freakin' job: get the kid to practice and pay your bills. That's what your role is.

What's great is after he ranted, the whiners stopped and again...one kid left so the bills kept getting paid. Absolutely, he did the right thing.

Approachable? All day long. Questioning a professional? Demanding PT for someone "to be fair"? Questioning his tactics? Never.

They're looking for warm bodies who will pay. Too many clubs, teams, leagues battling over the same limited and diluted talent pool. Of course they shouldn't promise anything, but they will. Get used to it if your kid is going to be recruited - college coaches will also promise loads of PT and "You're our top recruit." Families need to do their homework, and be very frank about whether or not their player is a good fit for a team and will realistically play.

just want to add...everyone should be realistic about there kids ability and what level they are currently playing at....if your kid is in the bottom half of the team and not getting enough playing time.....move perhaps to a lower level team where your kid will be middle of the pack, You can then move up from there. If your kid just wants to play with his friends and he/she is happy where they are....stfu, pay the bill and be happy if they are happy.

Yes. Look out for your players. Many clubs will not. Many have little or no integrity and there is example after example of this. Manage your expectations, pay attention and be stingy with offering trust and respect until it is earned.

Yeah, coach was a real stand up guy .... we accepted you 20 kids from tryouts .... and your checks .... now we realize that we made a mistake and we are bringing in kids from outside and lower age groups to make up for it .... your kid's PT will all be cut because we lied to you and said you and the rest of the team were adequate. Dont worry if your kid becomes #30 on our roster, we need to win games .... got it! Sign me up so i can be lied to and pay for a year on a team that my kid wont play. the DA way baby .... always looking for talent .... and can never find it. hold legit tryouts and tell people NO if they are not good enough. set the bar and stick to it or do not take the cash ..... and then overload the roster.

Nope, we had a small roster to begin with so we needed to bring in other players. The extras were brought in to bring it up to normal levels.

Sorry, there's lots of leagues where everyone gets to play the same and nobody pushes each other to get better. Maybe that's one you should consider?

"when you are asked if you can do a job, tell em, certainly i can!, then get busy and find out how to do it" T. Roosevelt.

This is no different than the work place in real life...if you are not doing a good job, you will eventually be replaced by someone who will....the sooner kids realize this the better they will be....remember you are not paying to play...you are paying for the opportunity to do your best.

Yes we are paying for quality where none can be found.

well you can complain all you want...but it is what it is....after making the team every practice and game is a tryout...if you don't perform, you don't play...if you don't like it...leave.

Ah, there is the wrinkle .... if you dont like it leave ..... just make sure to pay the balance of the boatload of money that you owe us or we wont let you leave .... and then pay your new club as well after. Run legit tryouts and dont take everyone only to replace them later. It is BS and parents should make it known when these shady practices are done by the same clubs year after year. Those clubs should be put out of business.

coulda, shoulda but no one ever does....in the end it is what it is....you are supposedly an adult, have you never heard the term "buyer beware"? do your homework before blindly joining a club....but the reality is this....no body does there homework ...because why?

Because no body would join any soccer club if they ever found out the truth (as they are all mostly the same)....people are just happy to pay and think they have a right to complain....you have no right to complain since it was your decision to join the club, you are not entitled to anything and you are not special.
