Of course it’s a money grab. What else would it be? Wake up.

I think we have made a terrible mistake. My daughter played for NYCFC last year, and overall we thought she did well, as did she. The club was not perfect, none are, but as a whole we think we made the right choice to stay for the 2nd year. Just found out that her ECNL composite team has a total of 7 games, that's it. My daughter is now upset that such a short schedule combined with her crappy HS team games will not prepare her for college soccer, she is miserable, as are we. WCFC was never up front about this situation, and now its too late to go to STA or NYSC, damn....

Ask the club to pay for more tournaments. 2 tournaments would make up for the deficit in the number of league games she is playing.

Also, hard for the club to be "up front" about it since it's dependent on whether other clubs have enough players to put teams into that composite conference.

First, more games may get added so I wouldn't panic yet. But if you'd looked at the prior year's schedule you would have seen it's a weaker grouping. The good news is because they're all seniors with many conflicts and waning interest, if you show up you very well may play the entire game.

Second, she cannot rely solely on her club training and games to get her ready. The season is basically done early June so all college bound players need a plan to get them into August. She needs to work her tail off with workouts, work on her own or with a trainer, try and play as much as she can. She's old enough to play in adult leagues also.

Also, how do you know it's too late? Are the rosters full at either DA club? Clubs will take ballers, and your check too.

Cannot afford another down payment, and WC is not going to defend us.

Ecnl needs to switch to grad year age groups!

We never had this problem until USSF mandated everyone switch to birth year. Now, every single year, every single club across the country has this problem at 8-9th grade and worse at 11-12th. Average of 1/3 of the players are left without a team. Every. Year. Every. Club. Nationwide. It’s a cluster that forming these “composite” teams doesn’t solve. Youth Soccer participation is down 15% and climbing.

ECNL should wake up, change to grad year age groups and instantly grab huge market share. Still would be under “birth year mandate” simply by using the older year in the grad year. This season for example:
                              U19 Class of 2021, Seniors (“2001”)
                              U18 Class of 2022, Juniors (“2002”)
                              U17 Class of 2023, Sophomores (“2003”)
                              U16 Class of 2024, Freshmen (“2004”)
                              U15 Class of 2025, 8th Graders (“2005”)
                              Etc.

Simple. Inclusive. Team for everyone. Aligns with college recruitment. Doesn’t violate birth year mandate.
Simply can’t believe ECNL continues to let GDA age groupings ruin soccer for so many in ecnl.

If she is accepted at a new club, explain your situation and see if they'll work with you on the fee.
