Yes too much drama and bs and too much travel. Good to learn what doesn’t work. Try something and no regrets. Was not a good experience. And find the discussion on the boards is redundant and same old.

Yes. Time to drop these discussions. If there was a chance for change it would have been the launch of the gda league but that did not happen and the opportunity was missed.

So book those plane tickets and waste your time and money flying around instead of learning how to play soccer!

How so? Training time isn't sacrificed for the travel. Parents don't need to travel to showcases if they don't want to (we did for one and used it as a vacation). Money came out to be about the same as pre-GDA as now.

              So...how so?

I really don't understand all the bashing of the parents (kids) for putting their kids in DA. So what if you are good but not good enough to go pro? When should this be decided, U14, U12, U10? If you are there because you love playing soccer, are learning a lot and want to play in the top league (and you make the cut) why is it a problem for so many people?

So if you make the US Olympic team as #3 runner in some event should you not go because you have no chance to win?

Because, there are two ways to make yourself look like you are doing a good job. First, you do a good job. Second, you try to show the other person is doing a bad job.

Too many people in the second category.....Insecurities.

Probably one of the best statements I have read on TS. So true.

You must be new to it. You will see. A lot of the time energy and money goes into the travel instead of the soccer with no reward back. It weekens the entire endeavor because it cuts too many strong players out and you are traveling all over for not so great soccer. Only way to improve the level of play is to get more talent involved, not less. Only way to do that is to decrease the travel burden, not increase it. You will see.

So you are saying the talent is staying local and not traveling? Then all I need to do is play the town travel teams and we are all set? Or are you saying High School has the best talent?

So, it sounds like you are advocating more teams within an area, no less.

Like...NOT the ECNL model which precludes too many teams within a certain radius?

                          I agree.

Ecnl model is the BDA model which is the gda model. All the same and all serve the same talent. Funded boys mls is different.

It is very easy to see the level of play in these leagues. Just go through some youtube videos. No need to argue on line about it. It is easily available to judge for yourself

Awesome! what was the value of the contract, 20-30k? he can work part time at mcdonalds to get benefits and make it a livable wage in the MLS or some even lower tier "pro" (wink, wink) league.

This is BS. If there is any kid who is good enough to play ECNL or DA the clubs would find a way to get the child sponsored. This is a complete utter nonsense coming from a parent who would rather spend time for what they want and not their child. Show me one "top" talent who has been rejected by a club bc they are not able to afford it. The people who want more will always get more... and thats a fact!
