    Predictions

BDA will be eliminating the 13's and 14's by next year, Boys clubs will be dropping BDA by June due to the lack of support.
Clubs that have both BDA and GDA will come to the realization that US Soccer just doesn't care about them
GDA will fold September 2020, BDA the following year

The first prediction is already happening, and the 2nd prediction is already underway, so I can't really take credit for them
Ok that is a good fair value set of predictions, albeit a little self serving in terms of your forecast of GDA and BDA collapsing as you are against them for what is very likely envy or non participation.

BUT... lets entertain each one of those for a moment.

    1. MLS is not forming their own bracket in BDA, but they are playing a role in tilting their matches to MLS teams and the stronger non MLS DA teams. Just look at the USSDA website and you see the DA cup schedule for 2019/20 and you will see MLS Academy teams playing more MLS Academy teams, AND other strong DA teams. So its a tiering but not MLS exclusive. This was destined to happen, and is a good thing for the entire league.

    2. U-13 BDA will go away at the end of this upcoming season. I believe that to be true, it was voted to stay alive for the 19/20 season narrowly last season (so that the existing U12 DA teams continue on the DA path) But now that the U-12 this year won't be DA, they will eliminate U-13 next year and nobody lost anything. This makes complete sense, so this will be the last year of U-13 BDA. That said, I believe that U-14 DA will remain for many years to come, so we differ on that.

    3. No chance clubs drop their BDA status. Zero chance of that, there are more applications in for BDA status then there are clubs allowed in the system. Nobody is leaving BDA... nobody! It will in fact continue to grow.

    4. There is no realization about US Soccer not caring about people. Just take care of yourself and your family and stop asking others to hold your hand to the promise land. We are in charge of our lives and our families, not US Soccer. You can participate in their leagues and programs.... or not. Your choice. We are a free people.

    5. By 2020, BDA and GDA will be LARGER than it is now. The two will continue to grow and become the National Standard for youth soccer. Fight that and you'll be standing in front of a train with momentum. Say what you will/want - this is the Elephant in the room and you're fighting it. Good luck with that.

Seems reasonable but I dont see the gda thriving in the NE region. Youth soccer is not a monolith and it does not seem like the customers in the NE are buying this product.

Tell us how you draw this conclusion? What information makes you believe customers aren't buying the product?

          Not the poster but -

          1. Possibly. This is an interim step.
          2. Totally U13 is gone, possibly even U14 the year after especially MLS. They can just cherry pick the top players at that age
          3. Agreed, but that doesn't mean non MLS clubs won't suffer long term from the distancing of MLS clubs
          4. Disagree. Many are very disappointed in GDA so far and BDA is losing some of its luster, especially post WC non qualification and at non MLS clubs (we're giving up HS for this?). US Soccer is poorly run and focusing more on their bottom line than bettering US soccer.
          5. BDA will probably stay pretty static. GDA has lost easily ten good clubs and only replaced them with much weaker ones. Maintaining market share overall isn't the same as having leading market share of the top players.

Just because teams are filled doesn't mean you have the customers you want.

So far you are correct. GDA had a tough START... and ECNL is a viable option. But over time, gradually, GDA will win ... it'll be slow going.

Overpriced and with some of theses subpar trainers heading these teams with these alleged high level teams its a complete waste for kids under 15.

                  1. Yes, possibly. Time will tell, but we live in the here and the now, and the here and the now has MLS tiering WITH the other DA clubs.

                  2. U-14DA will be around for a few years at a min. I'm not guessing on this. What happens in 4-5 years.... man I have no idea.

                  3. Normal DA clubs have been suffering from the cherry picking of players from their club for a few years now. That will not go away. It will continue to evolve into a badge of honor to have so many home grown players playing at the MLS level (Academy or first team). This will not change, and should be viewed as a good thing .... but its not yet.

                  4. My point is ... forget US Soccer. They are doing the best job that they can, put your trust/faith in the club you belong to, not US Soccer. That said, GDA had a tough start... but it'll find its footing, I'm very confident of that. And BDA will improve greatly this year with the announcement in August, and the relaxing of certain restrictions that made the league a little less fun. Everything that should change eventually does, and BDA and GDA will evolve and maintain their trajectory of being the leading US youth league in the United States.

                  5. Teams will leave GDA, teams will leave ECNL, teams will leave EDP, and teams will leave NPL. They wil join other leagues and then come back to their old leagues, then move again and rinse and repeat. Nothing is certain except that change and indecision repeats in human psychology over ... and over again. What will win in the end is the stability and steadfast of the leagues, the ease of play, and the costs. So lets just leave this one as it was in the 1980's . . . to be continued.

                    Referring to ECNL?

Both Ecnl and gda have their share of trainers that stink on LI.

Oh, sorry. Your statement is easily applied to either league so I had no idea with the ambiguity who you would be referring to.

You cant look at LI.. LI is the pits, period.. But in the NE region, ecnl is competitive and popular overall.

                              "Overall".

The point remains that there are warts and crappy teams in both leagues; crappy trainers in both leagues.

So, an ambiguous statement about one league is easily misconstrued to the other. I know how that grates on the ECNL crowd, but sometimes the truth hurts.

There's much more bad in NE GDA.
