The same club told other families go play hs and after hs season you can join and play immediately. The hs playing kids came in and started right away agter the hs season and took playing time away from kids on the same team who were told no hs allowed but were convinced to join the team before hs. Is that a good culture?

And that's the just the legit waivers - then there's others that do the "wink wink nudge nudge go play HS and come back". Yes DA has a legitimate add on period should a club "discover" a new player or want to add on B team players, but then intention isn't to allow kids to come and go depending on when HS is played in the state. Clubs that do it are abusing the loophole because they're desperate for top players. It kills their credibility and creates all kinds of tension among teammates and families.

The HS soccer workaround should be available to all the players or none. (except for the private school one on soccer scholarships). If all the kids that want it can get it, then let them play HS. That may be the only way all these leagues can survive at all.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostYes. It is try out season. What gda clubs have what policies? That is necessary information to have when trying to understand where to try out. Not every poster has a secret agenda.
And to the previous poster that said everyone should do it if they want, that doesn't work at all. There are GDA games scheduled during HS season, so they need to big enough rosters not playing HS to field teams.
If anyone is seriously considering GDA next year, they should be asking up front how many kids will be allowed to join after HS season and/or the current/max roster size.
