In other countries, most kids go pro because they have a talent and have to.

thats the difference between the USA and the RoW. Soccer is an upper middle class game here. It reflected in everything we do.

the only reason to have an NWSL franchise here is to connect to upper middle class $$
Lower income boys with enough talent could get access to a funded MLS academy. Nothing like that for girls.

you mean the incentive is not there for clubs to fund soccer teams for girls. that is true. competitive club soccer is for girls that can fund it.

But first the "lower class boy" would have to have been playing a number of years in leagues that cost money, involve travel, cleats, uniforms, etc that all cost money. So this "lower income boy" could not be on travel teams, or get driven to and from practices 4 times a week or have access to any MLS academy. All a farce. I know a talented kid whos parent can not afford anything. I drove him to ODP and he made it, turned it down bc there is no way she can drive him to Hofstra each week. And no way she can take off weekends for tournaments and pay additional for camp and the tourny. Also, has to stay on local town team that 10 min from his home because she cant get him anywhere else. So,..yes, you NEED money for soccer. Just this year I , regretably spent $5,300 on soccer . Travel, fees, ref fees, training club, etc. That is no joke and my kid is 13. AND does NOT play in any MLS, simply and EDP team. I am re evaluating this lunacy next year.

Yes - that is fair. in theory a lower or lower middle income boy could play MLS academy but in practice, that would be rare for the reasons you state. the sport is highly monetized and costly to play an organized level.

School sports are so far still available to all the children of the district in theory and effort should be spent to keep it that way.

I also know a few boys/families who simply couldn't manage an MLS commitment. There aren't that many MLS clubs either. Some are investing in residency programs and transportation access, but it's on a very limited basis. We're not Europe when it comes to pro club density or financial resources

No one's prioroties align with USSF since their only dream is mo money, mo money, mo money (and power too) .... at everyone else's expense!!

How will this rule help girls? You mean the boys side will get more money and you think they will invest it in the girl's side? Doubt it.

?? its pretty obvious no? if a pro team can develop its own talent and keep it, then whats the issue?

I am trying to understand how that sthe girls side. The money generated from a male talent and fund the development of the talent that follows. The female talent cannot generate money.

So are you saying, this is dependent on the funds generated by the male talent being spent on finding and developing future male AND female players?

im saying it doesn't matter where the money comes from. Why do we have women's sports at all? which women's team sport generates money ?

if you allow a team to develop its own talent and keep it, then you have created a pathway that is clearly talent based. some will choose it, some wont.

we have womens activities only because women a long time ago complained for equality.
